Andres Gonzalez ’21 Named Conductor for United States Army Bands

Andres Gonzalez ’21

Following a rigorous audition process, Andres Gonzalez ’21 (Bachelor of Music Education) has earned a conducting position with the United States Army Bands. Founded in 1922, the United States Army Bands is the premier musical organization of the United States Army. 

While at Stetson, Gonzalez studied flute in the studio of Tammara Phillips, PhD, visiting assistant professor of music. Gonzalez performed in nearly every ensemble for the School of Music and proved to be an outstanding music education student.

After graduating from Stetson, he served as director of Bands at Merritt Island High School in nearby Brevard County for two years. During his tenure there, his bands received superior ratings.  

Gonzalez will be serving the United States as an officer in the Army Bands. He will receive his first conducting assignment this fall.
