News, the Miami Herald, Politifact, the Tampa Bay Times and other media outlets quoted Christopher Ferguson, PhD, professor of Psychology, in the Jan. 12 story“Will curbing social media help kids’ mental health? Florida may try.” “I think there’s a misimpression about what’s going on,” Ferguson said. “Everybody is experiencing a rise in depression and anxiety.” The story also cited Law alumna and Florida Attorney General Ashley Moody.

• Also, Political Correctness Watch and the Free Market Alternative quoted research by Ferguson and Sven Smith, PhD, associate professor of Sociology, in the Jan. 14 post “Mega-Study Finds That Minorities Don’t Receive Harsher Criminal Punishments, But That Academics Said So Anyway.”

• Yahoo! News and The Hill quoted Law professor Ciara Torres-Spelliscy in the Jan. 18 story “Citizens United anniversary marks expensive start to 2024 election.”

• Public radio stations WMFE and WUSF featured an interview of Randall Croom, PhD, associate professor of Management, for the Jan. 16 broadcast segment and online story “Economist talks food insecurity, says feeding kids isn’t cheap in Florida.”

• Google Play Books, in a Jan. 16 YouTube post, featured an audiobook preview of “Hitler’s Monsters: A Supernatural History of the Third Reich” by Eric Kurlander, PhD, William R. Kenan Jr. Professor of History, and narrated by Grover Gardner.

• Public radio stations WMFE, WUWF, WFIT and WUSF featured an interview with Kristine Dye, PhD, assistant professor of Biology and Health Sciences, for the Jan. 15 broadcast segment and online story “Ladapo’s questions on DNA integration raise local experts’ eyebrows.” “Given the fact that he [Florida Surgeon General Joseph Ladapo] is a physician-scientist, he has an MD PhD, that is super hard to believe that he doesn’t understand freshman-level biology,” Dye said.
