The new 305-bed, four-story residence hall will be built on Stetson University’s DeLand campus and open in 2026.

• WFTV 9 News featured Stetson in the April 2 story, Stetson University preps wave of construction, renovation projects.” Central Florida News 13 covered the story in the April 2 broadcast segment, “New Residence Hall to Be Built at Stetson University.” WKMG News 6 covered the story in the April 2 broadcast segment, “Stetson University Announces New Residence Hall.” The Orlando and Jacksonville Business Journals reported on the topic in the online story, “Stetson University to build new dorm as part of wave of construction projects.” Other media outlets also reported the story.

• The Tampa Bay Times reported the death of John Passidomo, the husband of Senate President Kathleen Passidomo, in the April 3 story “Florida Senate President Kathleen Passidomo’s husband dies after fall.” The story reported that “The Passidomos were ‘law-school sweethearts’ who met while attending Stetson Law School.” CBS News Miami, the Pensacola News Journal, the Orlando Sentinel, the Tampa Bay Times and more than 20 other media outlets also reported the story.

• The Daytona Beach News-Journal featured the Sandra Stetson Aquatic Center in the April 3 story, “Volusia County Council OKs nearly $3M in ECHO grants.”

• NBC News, Yahoo! Life, MSN, AOL and other media outlets featured Christopher Ferguson, PhD, professor of Psychology, in the April 3 online story, “A new book has amplified fierce debate around teens, mental health and smartphones.”

“I just think this is how it is now,” Ferguson said. “It’s just a matter of getting used to that. For some reason, society always wants to throw a temper tantrum when a new thing comes along. And eventually, like all temper tantrums, they go away.”

• The Huntsville News quoted Ellen S. Podgor, Gary R. Trombley Family White-Collar Crime Research Professor of Law, in the March 28 story, “How Sam Bankman-Fried’s possible sentence stacks up against the century’s biggest fraudsters.”

“The thing that bothers me the most about this case is that if [Bankman-Fried] had been caught earlier, the fraud would not be as great and the sentence lower,” Podgor said. “I question whether a fraud that goes on for a longer period of time, because it was not stopped by a government agency, should place the defendant in receiving a higher sentence.”

• Florida Matters, a program of public radio station WUSF, interviewed Louis Virelli, professor of Law, for the April 2 broadcast and online story, “Breaking down the legal ramifications of Florida’s abortion and marijuana amendments.” WUSF also quoted Virelli in an April 2 news segment on the issue. • WFLA News Channel 8 and Yahoo! News quoted James Fox, professor of Law, in the March 29 story, “Monday Deadline: Florida Supreme Court to rule on abortion, marijuana amendments.”

• The Orlando Sentinel, Yahoo! News, ArcaMax and other media outlets quoted Roberta Flowers, professor of Law and director of the Center for Elder Justice, in the March 31 story, “Inside the elder-abuse case against Orlando commissioner Regina Hill.”  Real Radio 104 cited Flowers in an April 1 broadcast segment about the case.
