Rajni Shankar-Brown, PhD

• Professor Rajni Shankar-Brown, PhD, was among the featured experts Nov. 13 on Juandolyn Stokes’ On Point radio show. The episode, “Why Our Community Must Care About Climate,” was heard on V-103 HB and 1380 WAOK, as well as on the worldwide Audacy app. Shankar-Brown is Stetson’s Jessie Ball duPont Endowed Chair of Social Justice Education.

• On Nov. 2, Stetson’s Center for Community Engagement and student Jasmine Bakhsh were mentioned in the article “Election anxiety affecting most Americans, but these Volusia voters seem pretty calm,” published by the Daytona Beach News-Journal.

• Wendy Anderson, PhD, professor of Environmental Science and Studies, was included in the story “Here’s how wetlands help control flooding in Central Florida,” published Nov. 3 by Central Florida Public Media.

• The Nov. 7 National Geographic feature story “This worm-like parasite is killing off Florida’s native snakes” detailed a study that was coauthored by Terry Farrell, PhD. A former award-winning Biology professor at Stetson, Farrell is now a Visiting Research Professor on campus.

• On Nov. 11, WorldAtlas included coverage of DeLand and Stetson University as part of the article “12 Of The Most Captivating Small Towns In Florida.”

• On Nov. 1, yahoo!news, MSN and USA Today, along with hundreds of other media outlets nationwide, reported the findings of Stetson’s Center for Public Opinion Research. Among the many articles was “Presidential election polls 2024: Latest surveys on Harris vs. Trump with 3 days to go.”

• On Nov. 4, Christopher Ferguson, PhD, professor of Psychology, was quoted in the article “United Kingdom: expert reaction to a study on the association of screen time before 2 years of age and risk of autism at 12 years of age,” published by Science Media Centre and other outlets. Ferguson also was included in the Nov. 8 article “More than half of Christians are watching adult films, researchers say,” published by the Washington Times.

• Alumnus Ryan S. Padnuk ’21 was featured in “Acupuncture treats range of ailments, including Bell’s palsy,” published in VeroNews.com on Nov. 8. Padnuk is a board-certified acupuncture physician and herbalist.
