Stetson hosted the 2025 Fraternity and Sorority Life Award Ceremony last month, recognizing the outstanding accomplishments among the university’s 15 active chapters, their leaders and members.

“It has been amazing to see year after year the achievements your organizations have made,” Renee DuBois, Director of Fraternity & Sorority Life, said at the March 25 awards ceremony. More than 300 students attended with standing room only in the Stetson Room.

“Just highlighting a few real quick, we celebrated Delta Sigma Phi’s 100th year on campus, Lambda Theta Alpha is wrapping up their first year on campus, and we have multiple chapters winning national awards,” she added.

The Latina sorority, Lambda Theta Alpha, received two awards during its first year on campus: the Campus Involvement Award and Best GPA in the Spring 2025 semester.

The sorority has partnered with many multicultural student organizations, including the Latinx Student Union, Black Student Union, Caribbean Student Association and the Brazilian Student Association for pool parties, carnival-themed events and other gatherings. Several members served as FOCUS leaders, as well.

Winning two awards “was a bit of a surprise just because we’re so new,” said Shana Goins, a pre-Law student who is head of recruitment and retention for the sorority. “We’re excited to do more next year.”

For the 2025 awards, the chapters no longer applied for the individual awards categories. Instead, their executive boards now are meeting monthly with DuBois to share their accomplishments.

The awards ceremony is a major event for Greek Life with students eagerly awaiting the names of the winners, explained DuBois.

“The biggest award of the night is recognizing the fraternity and sorority of the year,” she said. “This award is the one everyone strives towards. It is a huge accomplishment to be recognized as the fraternity and sorority of the year. We have plaques in the CUB which list the fraternity and sorority of the year for everyone to see.”
