Adjunct Professor Ashley Krenelka Chase, Associate Director of the Hand Law Library, has written Millennial Leadership in Libraries. 

Dr. Kirsten Davis recently presented a part of a group panel at the Rhetoric Society of America Conference in Minneapolis.  The panel used a moot court format to engage rhetoric and communication faculty in a discussion of whether the classical rhetorical texts should be taught as part of the law school curriculum.

Professor Kelly Feeley and Professor Erika McArdle have been asked to speak and be part of the prestigious group of panelists at the upcoming 2-day Annual Coaches & Competitions Clinic being held at American University in Washington, DC.  Professor Feeley will speaker on several DR panels and participate in all of the DR breakout sessions.  Professor Erika McArdle will speak on all aspects of the trial, coaching the millennial students, and the best ways to “make it stick” from a teaching modality.  Professor McArdle will also be presenting on the topic of Professionalism of Coaches.

Professor Ciara Torres-Spelliscy is co-presenting the American Constitution Society Eleventh Circuit Year in Review on July 18 at the Chester H. Ferguson Law Center.

Dean Emeritus and Professor of Law Bruce Jacob will receive the 2018 Law Professionalism Award from the Florida Bar on June 14 during the Florida Bar’s Annual Convention in Orlando.

Professor Royal Gardner recently received the President’s Service Award from the Society of Wetland Scientists for his work on WOTUS issues.

Professor Luz Nagle joined a session in New York on social entrepreneurship, and worked with Sabine Toussaint, director of programs, Haiti, the William J. Clinton Foundation at the ABA International Law Conference on April 19 in New York.  The session speakers included Norman Clark of Walker Clark LLC, Fort Myers, the co-chair of the Transnational Practice Management Committee;  Stephen Denver, director of Strategic Relationships, the Law Society of England and Wales, London, UK: Carmen Pombo, executive director of the Foundation Fernando Pombo, Madrid, Spain; Professor Nagle and Toussaint.

Professor Jason Palmer was the keynote speaker for the Shorecrest Cum Laude Society Induction Ceremony on Thursday, April 12.

Professor Jason Palmer has been appointed associate editor of the Scribes Journal of Legal Writing.

Adjunct Professor Scott Bassett recently argued and won a case in the Michigan Supreme Court dealing with appellate jurisdiction in the issue of whether a trial court order affecting legal custody of a child is a custody order for the purposes of an appeal by right rather than by leave only. 

Professor Ellen Podgor has received the ABA Criminal Justice Section Raeder-Taslitz Award, to be presented at the awards luncheon during the CJS Fall Meeting in Washington, D.C., on Nov. 3. The Raeder-Taslitz Award, established in 2014, is given in memory of Myrna Raeder and Andrew Taslitz to a professor at an ABA-accredited law school who exemplifies ethical and professional conduct, demonstrates excellence in scholarship, teaching or community service, and has made a significant contribution to promoting public understanding of criminal justice, justice and fairness in the criminal justice system, or best practices on the part of lawyers and judges.
