5 new members appointed to Board of Trustees

Five new trustees have been appointed to Stetson University’s Board of Trustees, effective July 1. Each trustee was appointed to a three-year term. Six current trustees were reappointed for additional three-year terms.

The new trustees welcomed to the board are:

Steven Alexander, a Stetson alumnus, is a managing director and partner in the PFM Group’s Orlando office, with 24 years of investment and financial management experience. He serves on the Association of Public Treasurers of the United States and Canada Investment Policy Certification Committee and is a Government Finance Officers Association Standing Committee Advisor on Treasury and Investment Management. Alexander is a member of Stetson’s School of Business Administration Advisory Board.

Tony Jenkins is the market president for Central and Northwest Florida for Florida Blue (formerly known as Blue Cross Blue Shield of Florida). Active in the Orlando community, he is board chairman for United Arts of Central Florida and the Florida Institute for Community Studies. He also currently serves on the boards of The Central Florida Partnership, Orlando Economic Development Commission and Florida Citrus Sports.

Brenda H. Lopez, a Stetson alumna, is a retired educator and current owner of Inside Job, an interior decorating business. Lopez taught at St. Anne’s School in Spain and later at Clewiston (Fla.) Middle and High schools, as well as the Clewiston Adult School. She served as an adjunct professor of Spanish for both Edison State College and Palm Beach State College. Lopez has served on a number of civic boards and, since retiring from the Hendry County Schools in 2009, she has chaired the Clewiston Redevelopment Agency Advisory Committee, the Dolly Hand Cultural Arts Center Board and the Clewiston Museum Board.

Richard C. “Rich” George, a Stetson alumnus, has served in key management positions as a county government administrator in central Florida with an emphasis on growth management and public land acquisition. Since 1988, George has been an owner of R. George & Associates Inc., a DeLand-based company that designs and builds out libraries, media centers, computer centers and specialized spaces. The company has completed more than 1,000 projects, including Stetson’s duPont-Ball Library and the Stetson College of Law Library. He serves on the Stetson Greek Alumni Advisory Board and the university’s Arts & Sciences Advisory Board.

Ken Ziesenheim, a Stetson alumnus, is an industry consultant for mutual fund distribution companies. He is also a financial advisor with Raymond James Financial Services and an arbitrator with FINRA. He is a member of the Financial Planning Association. He served as president and chair of the Tampa Bay chapter of the International Association for Financial Planning (IAFP) and a past national board member of IAFP. He is a trustee for Prescott College and serves on the Board of Advisors for Stetson’s School of Business Administration.

The trustees appointed for additional three-year terms are Hyatt Brown of Ormond Beach, Fla.; Bonnie Foreman of St. Petersburg, Fla.; Jill Jinks of Atlanta, Ga.; Patrick Lane of DeLand, Fla.; Lu Prats of St. Petersburg, Fla.; and David Rinker of Atlantis, Fla.
