Candidate forum on campus July 26

Stetson University has partnered with the Daytona Beach News-Journal to present the candidates for Volusia County Chair in a “Meet the Candidates” series. The series will consist of four debates where candidates will answer questions from the public, pose questions to each other, and debate issues critical to their constituents. Stetson will host one of the debates – at 5:30 p.m. Thursday, July 26.

The forums, all to be at 5:30 p.m., are:

  • Tuesday, July 24: New Smyrna Beach’s Brannon Center, 105 S. Riverside Drive. This debate will be between candidates for Districts 2 and 3 Volusia County Council. District 2 candidates include incumbent Joshua Wagner, Ken Ali and Nancy Epps. District 3 candidates include Deborah Denys, Jim Hathaway and Justin Kennedy.
  • Wednesday, July 25: Daytona States College’s News-Journal Center on Beach Street in downtown Daytona Beach. This debate will feature the candidates for mayor of Daytona Beach. Candidates include Gwen Azama-Edwards, Derrick Henry, Fred Hoffmann, and Edith Shelley.
  • Thursday, July 26: StetsonUniversity’s Stetson Room in the Carlton Union Building. This debate will be between candidates for Volusia County Chair. Candidates  include Jason Davis, Ted Doran, and Carl Persis.
  • Tuesday, July 31: DSC’s Flagler/Palm Coast campus Alan Smolen Amphitheater, 3000 Palm Coast Pkwy. Southeast. This debate will be between candidates for Flagler County Sheriff. Republican candidates include incumbent Donald Fleming, John Pollinger, and Ray Stevens. Democratic candidates include Jim Manfre and Karl Tozzi.
