Community Catalyst House Applications due Friday, March 11.

Community Catalyst Houses are a new living and learning option that for 2016-2017 will engage returning students in an environment at Stetson where living, learning and values meet. Students with common interests (academic or community interests) who have a desire to enhance our campus and community will live together in a residential house environment to meet a challenge facing our community.

This program is designed to empower Stetson students to think deeply about their experiences, Stetson, the DeLand community and our global society. Students are encouraged to be imaginative and design their own community by exploring one’s intellectual passions and values, in addition to gaining an awareness of the reality in which others at Stetson and in DeLand experience day to day.

Stetson is offering five theme based residential communities to students beginning in the 2016 fall semester, including:

1. Futures in Healthcare – offers students with an interest in healthcare the ability to live together and motivate one another to make a difference through healthcare.
2. Intersections of Faith – offers students of different faiths, spiritual traditions and beliefs, a place to focus on fostering interfaith cooperation.
3. Global Learning – offers students interested in international affairs and intercultural engagement a place for internationalization and intercultural dialogue on campus.
4. Sustaining Green-Living – offers students a place to focus on the intersection of environmental stability, economic viability and social equity.
5. World Kitchen – offers students with an interest in cooking, the ability to experiment with food and traditions from other cultures, using cuisine as a catalyst for cultural exploration.

This program is designed to empower Stetson students to think deeply about their experiences, Stetson, the DeLand community and the global society. Community Catalyst Houses will have a house manager, a leadership position that will serve as the point of contact between the residents and Housing and Residential Life. Students residing in these houses will be accountable for conduct, policies and procedures through the Code of Community Standards and Guide to Residential Living. Community service and peer engagement within the house and around campus must be central to the experience and project.

Returning students interested in applying to live in a Community Catalyst House for the 2016 – 2017 Academic Year must visit Housing Central and apply to live in the houses by Friday, March 11. Learn more about the Community Catalyst Houses.
