• The Wall Street Journal cited research by Chris Ferguson, PhD, professor of Psychology, and Sven Smith, PhD, associate professor of Sociology, in the Jan. 2 opinion piece “No, the Criminal-Justice System Isn’t Racist.” Yahoo! News, Velvet Classic and Knews reposted the story.

• The Fox 35 Orlando television program Good Day Orlando featured a performance by the Stetson University Horn Quartet and interviewed Kathy Thomas, BM, adjunct professor of Music, Horn, along with student French horn player Geoffrey Barthle in a Dec. 19 broadcast segment. “The university is a small university, so we can treat it like a family experience,” Thomas said in response to a question about what makes Stetson’s School of Music outstanding. “Our new dean, Dr. Washington Garcia, has started a program where he takes instruments, chamber instruments to Carnegie Hall, and these fine people (in the quartet) are some of the winners of the Carnegie Hall project that we’re doing this coming March.”

Thomas also mentioned Jamie Clark, DM, assistant professor of Cello and coordinator of Chamber Music, as well as the upcoming Stetson International Chamber Music Festival. The segment was also posted by Yahoo! News, the Australian, Mercury and the Geelong Advertiser.

Fox 35 Orlando’s Good Day Orlando also cited Stetson’s television appearance in a December 22 follow-up broadcast, and the performance was repeated Dec. 23 on Good Day Orlando Saturday.

• Yahoo! News quoted Stetson Law professor Ciara Torres-Spelliscy in the Dec. 17 story “Democrats built an influencer economy. Can it save Joe Biden?” “Current FEC regulations and campaign finance laws from Congress have not kept up with how federal campaigns are run, including lots of on-line content that is never ‘broadcast’ on TV,” Torres-Spelliscy said. “Political actors know this and they game these loopholes to evade clear disclosures that would help voters.”

Also, The New York Times, Divya Bharat and An Ignoble Experiment cited Torres-Spelliscy in the Dec. 21 story “Trump, the Voters and the Constitution.” Legal Schnauzer cited Torres-Spelliscy in a response to the Times article.

Bay News 9 interviewed Torres-Spelliscy in the Dec. 20 broadcast segment “Analyzing Fmr. Pres. Trump’s Removal From Colorado Primary Ballot.”
