Setson University and AdventHealth have expanded their partnership.

As the new Official Health Care Provider of Stetson University Athletics, AdventHealth will help the 450 student athletes maintain peak performance throughout the sports seasons.

“Our two organizations have a deep, long-standing relationship that goes back many years,” said Eric Lunde, AdventHealth DeLand president and CEO. “This expanded collaboration not only reaffirms our joint commitment to the health and well-being of Stetson students, but also underscores our dedication to being part of the DeLand community as a whole.”

For years, the Stetson Health Service clinic has operated in partnership with AdventHealth, providing on-site primary care services to students, employees and their dependents.

Additionally, Stetson University’s Wilson Athletic Center is also home to AdventHealth’s Sports Med & Rehab services. These physical therapists specialize in athletic performance and also provide care in Stetson’s Athletic Training Room, eliminating the need for student athletes to travel off campus for these medical services.

Under the newly expanded partnership, student athletes will not only have access to dedicated certified athletic trainers and physical therapists, but also on-site sideline coverage by a clinician at select events. Student athletes will also receive pre-season physicals and priority scheduling for any necessary imaging procedures.

“AdventHealth has been a valued partner providing outstanding health care and personal attention to Stetson’s 450 NCAA Division I student-athletes and greater Stetson campus,” said Jeff Altier, Stetson athletics director. “This expanded program allows us to grow our collaboration to the benefit of Stetson, AdventHealth, and the DeLand community.”

Additionally, AdventHealth University and Stetson University partnered in 2018 to provide formal pathways for Stetson students pursuing careers as physician assistants, nurses and physical therapists at AdventHealth University.

The two universities took this partnership a step further and launched a dual-degree program, where students can earn two degrees at the same time. Through this combined program, students can earn a Master of Health Care Administration in Strategy and Innovation and a Master of Business Administration in as few as two years.

AdventHealth is also designated as the Official Healthcare Champion of Volusia County Schools and Flagler Schools and has a long history of caring for professional athletes as the official health care provider for the Daytona International Speedway, Legacy Motor Club, Daytona Tortugas, Orlando Magic, Tampa Bay Buccaneers, Tampa Bay Lightning, and more.
