Hatters Men Are Two Home Wins Away From Basketball’s ‘Big Dance’

Are the Hatters headed to college basketball’s brightest national spotlight? Quite possibly.

2023 was a historical year for Stetson, as the university celebrated its 140th anniversary. This March, the men’s basketball teams — along with the women’s team — is seeking to make history. The Hatters men, following an opening victory in the ASUN Tournament on Tuesday night, March 5, now need only two more wins to advance to their first NCAA Tournament (aka the Big Dance). It’s a feat the team has never accomplished.

This is a cause for celebration — and tickets at the Edmunds Center are still available.

The next game is set for Thursday, March 7, 7 p.m., at the Edmunds Center against Jacksonville University. If the Hatters win, they play on Saturday in the ASUN Championship game at the Edmunds Center — to reach the unprecedented.

In addition, the Tuesday night win gave the Hatters 20 victories for the season, reaching that mark for the first time since their 1974-1975 season.

Meanwhile, the women’s team is poised to begin its ASUN Tournament play on Saturday, March 9, 6 p.m., at the Edmunds Center. The Hatters are the No. 2 seed and will play the winner of the No. 7-No. 8 matchup.

Tickets to see the Hatters? The ASUN sets the ticket prices — and students are free of charge. Ticket prices for others: ages 17 and under, $5; general admission, $20; premium seating, $25.
