Homecoming 2026: Stetson to Honor Six Alumni with Awards
The Alumni Awards Luncheon tomorrow, Oct. 16, will officially kick off alumni activities for Homecoming Weekend 2026. These six award winners will be recognized by university leaders as graduates who have brought distinction and recognition to Stetson.
Glen Hauenstein ’82
Distinguished Alumni Award

The highest Stetson alumni honor bestowed on a graduate of the university goes to Glen Hauenstein, former president and CEO of Delta Air Lines, who recently retired following a distinguished career spanning two decades. He was instrumental in transforming the company’s global network, pricing and premium strategy, helping position Delta as a leading global airline with service to six continents. His leadership and relentless focus on the customer played a key role in the airline’s long-term growth and success. Hauenstein will continue to serve as a strategic advisor through the end of this year.
Before joining Delta, Hauenstein served as vice general director for Alitalia, serving in the dual role of chief commercial officer and chief operating officer. In these roles, he led a major restructuring of Alitalia, increasing revenue and, for the first time in decades, positioning Alitalia at the top of all European airlines’ consumer metrics. Prior to joining Alitalia in 2003, Hauenstein was a senior vice president at Continental Airlines, where he was responsible for planning and executing the airline’s schedule, fleet, pricing and revenue management strategies. He joined Continental in 1987 as international controller.
Hauenstein began his aviation career at People Express Airlines where he worked in many functions including ground operations, reservations and inflight before transitioning to finance and treasury functions.
He is a longtime supporter of Stetson, having provided many opportunities in support of student success. A member of the Board of Trustees, Hauenstein graduated from Stetson with a bachelor’s degree in finance.
