The Center addresses issues at the intersection of technology and society with a focus on the design and use of digital technologies for the social good.

In December, Professor Reyes spoke in Mexico and in Africa on using cutting-edge technologies like Bitcoin to promote economic, social and cultural rights and to reshape the law. She presented at the United Nations Internet Governance Forum in Mexico on Dec. 8 and at the Kenya Blockchain Workshop in Nairobi, Kenya, Dec. 15-16.

At Stetson, Professor Reyes is teaching Business Entities in the fall, and Secured Transactions and Non-Litigation Drafting: Technology Transactions Skills in the spring.

“The skills course will use a bitcoin company hypothetical and introduce students to the issues presented and skills required of attorneys working with technology start-ups,” Professor Reyes explained.

She presented her article, “Conceptualizing Cryptolaw,” forthcoming in the Nebraska Law Review, at Arizona State University’s Governance of Emerging Technology Conference in May, and presented on blockchain technology and business organization law at the University of Utah’s National Business Law Scholars Conference in June.  Professor Reyes travels to Bermuda at the end of this month for a joint COALA-MIT blockchain conference.
