Bob graduated from Stetson University, received his master’s degree from New Orleans Theological Seminary and his PhD from Columbia University. After pastoring several churches he enlisted at the age of 39 as an officer in the United States Navy. During his 22 years he served three tours of duty in Viet Nam, assignments on bases around the world, and was deployed on naval ships and rose to the rank of Commander. He was the recipient of the prestigious Witherspoon Award which was presented by the National Bible Association for excellence in teaching the Word of God which was given to only one Chaplain in all the armed forces each year. He retired in 1990 after a long and distinguished career.
