The LAB toured the United States, including Alaska, for many years to wide critical acclaim and in 1984 the group was invited by the International Brass Congress to premier a major new composition for brass and piano on the network television special “All That Brass”. Don’s jazz career was extensive, including 25 years and 11 albums with the Grammy winning “Bob Florence Big Band”. He also performed with the big bands of Shorty Rogers, Neal Hefti, Stan Kenton, Tommy Dorsey and The Mel Torme – Marty Paich Dek-Tette. He produced, arranged and recorded (with many colleagues) the “cult” recording, among trombone players, “The Hollywood Trombones” “Have Yourself A Merry Little Christmas”. In television Don’s career spanned the early years of the musical variety shows such as “The Lennon Sisters” and “Sonny and Cher” to musical special including Baryshnikov on Broadway and classical specials with Burt Bacharach and Barbra Streisand.

He then shifted to film television, Movies of the Week, weekly Crime and Drama shows and even included animated features and series such as The Flintstones, The Simpsons and Family Guy. Don’s contribution to the feature film industry included hundreds of movies, many of which are the most famous and beloved films of all times.
