Family Born in Branford, Florida, October 21, 1933 to Alford and Georgia Dorsett. Youngest of 4 children. Brothers Edward and Hugh have both passed. His sister Mary Ellen Waller is with us today. Married Nettie Sharrock in 1955 and together raised their five children: Jerry, Carol, Jon, Andrew and Johanna. In 1987 he married Mary Ellen Stallings. Herb has 12 grandchildren and 1 great grandson.

Education
Graduated from Stetson University In 1955 with a BA in music. Received Master of Health Administration from Baylor University in 1965. Military Career Commissioned Second Lieutenant in US Army 1955. Served in Vietnam 1966-67 and received Bronze Star. Retired from military service as a Major in 1968. Private Sector Career Served in various corporate enterprises before returning to hospital administration. Transformed a 90-bed Port Charlotte nursing home into the 274-bed Fawcett Memorial Hospital in 1976 and served as CEO. Enlarged Fort Myers Community Hospital beginning in 1981, transforming it into Southwest Florida Regional Medical Center and Heart Institute while serving as CEO. Helped to establish Gulf Coast Hospital in Fort Myers.

After retiring from healthcare administration Herb worked in a developmental capacity with the Harry Chapin Food Bank. Affiliations Former President, Charlotte and Lee County Chambers of Commerce. Former President, Port Charlotte and Fort Myers Rotary Clubs. Former Chairman, Florida Hospital Association and Florida League of Hospitals.
