In 1968, Jay H. Holmes was commissioned a second lieutenant in the US Air Force upon graduation from Officer Training School at Lackland AFB, Texas then assigned to Vance AFB, Okla., for pilot training. In 1970, Jay an Air Force contract administrator with the Hughes Aircraft Co. in Culver City, Calif., was promoted to 1st Lt. in the USAF. Then in 1972, Jay H. Holmes was assigned as Assistant Staff Judge Advocate, Hakata Air Station, Japan.
