I graduated from Stetson with the class of 1964 and received my commission in the United States Army. My first assignment was to the basic field artillery course at Fort Sill, Oklahoma. After I completed the course. I was assigned to a 7th Army Artillery unit stationed in Nuremberg, Germany. In May of 1967, I arrived at Bien Hoa Air Base, South Vietnam and was assigned to a 2nd Field Force artillery group and then battalions at Xuan Loc and Bear Cat, both near Saigon. The artillery units generally supported the 9th Infantry Division, the 11th Cavalry and other local ground units.

My tour ended in May of 1968. I returned to Fort Sill, met my wife to be, Elizabeth, and we married on May 24, 1969. We have two daughters, Katherine and Elisabeth and two sons John and Michael. We have five granddaughters ranging in age from 21 to 8. I graduated from the military’s Command and General Staff College, and obtained Mercer University’s Master of Education degree and my J.D. from Mercer University’s Walter F. George Law School. My wife also obtained her J.D. from Mercer, and she and I practiced law together in Macon Georgia; after 35 plus years of practice, we have retired and are currently spending a large part of our time traveling around the United States and the world. When we are home, we spend our time trying to learn ballroom dancing, particularly the Argentine Tango, and visiting with our grandchildren.
