Peter Jansik loved Stetson. According to his partner, Angela Fazio, he served in the Army as a Specialist 4 during the early years of the conflict in Vietnam. While working on phone lines high on a pole, he was shot, and with all of his heavy gear, fell some thirty feet, seriously damaging his back. Back home, he entered Stetson to study business, earning his bachelor’s degree in Business Administration in 1968. He continued to take graduate classes in business, while also working at the Florida Division of Blind Services in Daytona Beach. He maintained close connections with University faculty until his death, at age 60, on July 21, 2001. In fact, according to Angela, on that last day, he was on campus, auditing courses in business. She tells us that she knows he would be honored by this recognition from his alma mater. Peter is buried at the Florida National Cemetery in Bushnell.
