Annual Red Mass on January 5

On behalf of the Catholic Lawyers Guild, faculty and students are invited to the annual Red Mass set for Thursday, January 5, 2023, at 5:30p.m. at Christ the King Catholic Church in South Tampa. Judges, lawyers, law students, law school professors, and others in the legal field are invited to attend the Mass, and judges and faculty members are invited to process in in their robes. The Mass will be celebrated by the Most Reverend Gregory L. Parkes, Bishop of the Diocese of St. Petersburg. Persons of any faith are invited to attend. The “Red Mass” is a historical tradition within the Catholic Church dating back to the thirteenth century when it officially opened the term of the court for most European countries.
