Teaching Assistant needed for Prof. Karatinos (Fall 2026)

In search of a T.A. for Pre-Trial Practice (Florida focused) who can attend class on Tuesday and Thursday evenings from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Tampa campus. The student will shadow the Florida state court simulated case; schedule course-related events; interface with the students in a logistical capacity; role play as the witness in the deposition simulation; and help secure/schedule/prepare the mock judge for the motion hearings. The course is very rewarding as a learning opportunity for a student who plans to litigate, especially for a T.A. who will receive Professor feedback on many aspects of litigation outside the lectures.

The winning participant will receive:

  • National recognition via the ABA Forum on Construction Law
  • $1,000 cash prize
  • Travel expenses to the Fall Meeting 2026 in Boston, MA (not to exceed $2,000)

The deadline to submit or renew non-exam ADA Accommodations and/or ESL Testing Modifications for Summer 2026 is June 19th, 2026.  Any Summer submissions received after this date will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis.

All students who have previously received ADA Accommodations and/or ESL Testing Modifications at Stetson College of Law must renew their accommodation requests for every fall and spring semester, summer session and study abroad programs in which you are enrolled. 

All semester renewal requests for accommodations or modifications must be requested through the Accommodate Student Portal .  

Please follow all the steps found on Stetson Law’s Accessibility Resources  web page.  The accommodations listed in the BLUE BOX are what you are ELIGIBLE TO RENEW for the current term.  If you need additional or different accommodations, please email [email protected].  You will receive an email confirming a successful submission for the Accessibility Resource team to review and process for approval in the current term. Legal Pro Bono Opportunity

Bay Area Legal Services is looking for volunteers for an upcoming Advanced Directives Legal Clinic with Bay Area Legal Services on Tuesday, June 23 from 4:00–7:00 PM in St. Pete.

At the clinic, we’ll be helping community members with:

  • Simple wills
  • Healthcare surrogate forms
  • Power of Attorney for
  • Guardianship forms for minors

It’s a great chance to get some legal pro bono hours and hands-on experience. Student volunteers will assist with pre-screenings.

There will be a mandatory training on June 16, so please keep that in mind when signing up.

This role offers recent law graduates with a license to practice law in Florida the opportunity to engage in public interest environmental law practice, focusing on environmental justice and the defense of democratic principles in the Gulf region. The fellowship is designed to prepare the fellow for a career in public interest environmental law practice in the nonprofit sector. The fellow will work closely with the clinic director, staff attorney, and law students to provide legal services, advocate for policy reforms, and participate in impactful litigation.

Essential Job Functions and Responsibilities: Employment duties include, but are not limited to:

  • Collaborate on active litigation and advocacy projects addressing environmental challenges.
  • Engage with clients, community organizations, and stakeholders.
  • Conduct in-depth legal research on issues pertaining to environmental law, access to justice, and public policy.
  • Draft policy briefs, white papers, and scholarly articles to influence legislative and regulatory processes.
  • Present at conferences, workshops, and public forums.
  • Assist in organizing and leading educational seminars, community outreach programs, and training sessions.
  • Participate in grant writing and fundraising efforts to support client and clinic initiatives.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: The knowledge, skills, and abilities for this role include:

  • Demonstrated commitment to the public interest, environmental protection, and the defense of democratic institutions.
  • Excellent research, writing, and oral advocacy skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team-oriented environment and effectively mentor law students.

Required Qualifications: This position requires:

  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an accredited law school.
  • 0-3 years of legal practice experience, preferably in environmental law, civil rights, or public interest advocacy.
  • Some specialized knowledge in federal environmental law and/or administrative law
  • Admission to the Florida Bar
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Lexis, Westlaw, and internet research.
  • Currently reside in or willing to move to the Tampa Bay area of Florida.

Compensation

$60,000 per year plus benefits (health insurance, dental insurance, vision coverage, life insurance, disability coverage, 403(b) retirement plan, sick leave, holidays (14+/year), tuition benefits, and a professional development stipend).
