Trial Team reaches Costello Competition Quarterfinals

The Stetson Trial Team reached the quarterfinals in the 2023 Costello Criminal Trial Competition held in Washington, DC on February 9-12, 2023, and hosted by George Mason University Antonin Scalia Law School.  Stetson sent two teams to the field of 28 teams with both teams reaching the quarterfinal round.  The Prosecution team of Morgan Brown and Michael Harrigan, along with the Defense team of Cami Rodriguez, Rylie Pennell and Javier Pena, represented Stetson.  Rylie Pennell was named Best Advocate for the preliminary rounds of the competition.  The team was coached by Stetson Trial Team alumni, Kristin Gonzalez ‘12 and Diego Novaes ’13.  In the competition case file, the defendant, the adult child of the alleged victim, was charged with the attempted murder of his mother by poisoning in an effort to collect life insurance proceeds.  Congratulations to the Team and Coaches!
