SBA Open Seat Elections ~ April 18

The Elections Committee and SBA will be having open seat elections to fill the currently vacant representative seats in the legislative council on Tuesday, April 18, beginning at 5:00pm in Florin Roebig Courtroom or via Teams. Open seats are available as follows:

Part-time Class Representative – 2

2L Class Representative – 1 ~ There may be one open seat depending on the outcome of the current SBA Special Election.

3L Class Representative – 4

Open seats for each class will be filled with corresponding members first. If open seats remain at the end of the elections, then they will be opened to students of all classes.

To run for an open seat, you must meet the “Requirements for Representatives” as outlined at the end of this email/announcement, be present on Tuesday, April 18, at 5:00pm in the Florin Roebig Courtroom or via Teams.

Please notify the Elections Committee beforehand via the below email address if you intend to run. 
Students who do not e-mail the Elections Committee in advance and show up to run, are still eligible, but will jeopardize our ability to plan the election effectively.

If you would like to run for an open seat but are unable to attend in person or via Teams, please email the Elections Committee at [email protected] with an excuse by 11:59pm on Monday, April 17 and we will look into whether accommodations can be made.

SBA representatives are critically important to the success of SBA, campus organizations, and many on and off-campus events! If you would like to help, make a difference for the Stetson Law community, please consider attending this open seat election, and taking on the great responsibility of being an SBA Legislative Representative.

Article VII, Section 4 of the SBA Constitution outlines requirements for Representatives.

Requirements for Representatives.

Representatives shall:
a. Maintain a cumulative grade point average consistent with the Stetson University College of Law’s Requirements for Degree and Maximum Time to Complete J.D. Degree for their graduating classes;
b. Not be on academic or disciplinary probation; and
c. At the time of assuming office, be expected to graduate from law school at a date no earlier than that which will permit them to serve the full term of office.
d. Not serve a concurrent term as an Executive Council Officer while serving as an Class Representative on Legislative Council or Summer Advisory Council.
