Winter Break Pro Bono Opportunities with Voter Action Pinellas
This Winter Break there are legal and nonlegal pro bono opportunities available for Stetson students with Voter Action Pinellas (https://voteractionpinellas.org/). The Voter Action Pinellas mission is to organize a community of voters who are committed to advancing social justice and protecting our democracy.
These are remote projects (except as specified below), without any required in-person meetings or specific scheduled work hours. We ask for a commitment of at least three hours during Winter Break, but can provide projects that require a greater time commitment. You could fulfill all of your required Pro Bono hours during Winter Break.
If you have questions or are interested in these projects, please contact Mary C. Fahy, Esq., Skelton, Willis & Wallace, LLP (727-424-6987; [email protected]).
March Municipal Election Research
Conduct research on candidates and ballot questions to be submitted to voters in March 2025 Pinellas County municipal elections. Review minutes of City Council meetings and arguments submitted in favor of and in opposition to the ballot proposals. Prepare voter education materials for these elections.
Voter Rights Research
Prepare and review procedures, training, and tools for voter registration outreach. Help research Florida law impacting voter registration to ensure our voter outreach program complies with Florida law.
Nonlegal Pro Bono Opportunities
We have a variety of nonlegal pro bono opportunities:
- researching voter turnout initiatives of both progressive and conservative organizations in Pinellas County;
- graphic design, including design for our website and voter education materials;
- voter data analysis and management; and
- voter outreach in underrepresented communities (in-person work)
