Double Congratulations AGAIN to the Dispute Resolution Board!

We will be proudly flying the DR Board Banner for the next two weeks in honor of the two teams who represented Stetson Law so beautifully this past weekend.
Our first team to compete was coached by the legendary Professor Sheehan and competed in the NCAA Infractions Hearing Competition. This fully online competition simulates the formal hearing process used by the National Collegiate Athletic Association Committee on Infractions to oversee allegations of major rule violations. Our two teams each submitted briefs in advance and then participated in rounds of hearings (this past weekend) in which they advocated as NCAA enforcement staff or defense counsel for a school accused of committing NCAA infractions.
This was Stetson’s first time in this particular competition, and our students did beautifully. The team of Emily Saladrigas and team captain Jac Kulchin advanced into the semifinal round, and the team of Nick Colicci and Tyler Goldberg won first place for their brief! This was the first time Emily, Nick, and Tyler had competed for Stetson and experienced advocate Jac did a fantastic job in this, her second time leading her team as Captain.
Not to be outdone, our second team to compete represented Stetson beautifully in the regional rounds of the American Bar Association Representation in Mediation competition in Washington, DC. They were coached by extraordinary Stetson alumna, Professor Amy Catledge. After enduring what can only be described as a perfect storm of competition difficulties and after a middle-of-the-night announcement of advancing teams, our team made the brutal cut of 20+ teams straight to 4. These fantastic advocates – Team Captains and experienced advocates Jen Cornbrooks and Kristina Lester, and Madelene Garcia and Deepika Sathe (both representing Stetson for the first time) – together with Professor Catledge – stayed up all night preparing for an early morning round. Although the final ballots went to the other team by one point in a 3-2 vote by the 5-judge panel, we simply could not have been prouder of this team.
