A Special Win and a Special Celebration: Dispute Resolution Board – National Champions in Arbitration!!!
You may have seen the DR Board banner waving proudly in the courtyard this week. We are always excited to celebrate successes, and this one is really special. You may recall that, back in November, we celebrated our two fantastic arbitration teams – Team Purple (Jac Malfa, Lei-Lani Rogers, Marcus Chisholm, and captain Lexi Nyiri) as regional semifinalists (knocked out only by the other Stetson team) and Team Green (Morgan Jones, Anthony Graubard, Kristen Ballard, and captain Faith Gosselin) as regional champions. Team Green has now gone on to win the national championship in Arbitration this past weekend in Chicago.
Let me give you a sense of the scope of that accomplishment. A whopping seventy teams were slated to compete in five regional competitions this fall, with only the top fourteen invited to advance to nationals in Chicago this past weekend. After two preliminary rounds, followed by semifinal and final rounds, Stetson emerged as the top team in the field. This is Stetson’s fourth national championship in arbitration, with the most recent being our co-championship finish in 2014-2015.
Congratulations to these fantastic advocates – and a very special thanks to their great coaches, attorneys PJ Nowlan and Nathan Bruemmer, both of whom are Stetson advocacy alumni.
Because this is a special win, we are having a special celebration. We will make sure to remind you before that date, but please mark your calendars for a campus-wide cake celebration at noon on Monday, February 5 in the beautiful trophy room in the new Advocacy Center.
