Application Window Now OPEN for the 1L Air Force JAG Corps 2022 Summer Externship Program! Apply Today!

The application window for the 1L Air Force JAG Corps 2022 Summer Externship Program (unpaid) will open on Wednesday, January 19, 2022.

Externs work under attorney supervision at Air Force and Space Force locations throughout the world. An extern’s duties vary based on location, but duties typically include researching legal issues, writing legal briefs and opinions, conducting investigations, interviewing witnesses, and performing other tasks as required. Externs support attorneys in numerous practice areas including criminal law, legal assistance, civil and administrative law, labor and employment law, international and operational law, space and cyber law, contract and fiscal law, claims and tort litigation, and environmental law.

The externship program is a great way for students around the country to get hands-on substantive legal experience while observing the Air Force JAG Corps experience firsthand.Applications will only be accepted during the open application window: January 19, 2022 – February 2, 2022.  Applications are due Wednesday, February 2, 2022 before 11:59 Eastern Time.  Application instructions are included in the attached announcement.

Applicants may also later apply to the 1L paid summer internship program even if they have already accepted an unpaid externship position.

The 1L and 2L summer internship announcements and application windows will be provided in late January or February.
