Barrister’s Ball Information

Please review the below information from the Barristers Ball Committee for the upcoming Barristers Ball. Tickets will go on sale February 6 at 8:00am. 

An email will be sent February 6, 8:00am with the link to the ticket portal.

Any attempt to purchase a ticket before the “official” ticket sales begin for your specific class (see below), will not be honored, and the student will be referred to the Assistant Dean of Student Affairs and will not be refunded for dishonorable ticket purchase.  Additionally, any person who attempts to purchase a ticket not in accordance with the ticket purchasing guidelines will be denied entrance to the event regardless of subsequent ticket purchase in accordance with ticket purchasing guidelines.

Stetson University College of Law Barrister’s Ball 

The Student Bar Association is hosting Barrister’s Ball 2023 Mardi Gras Carnival. 

Friday March 24, 2023, 7:00pm-11:00pm 

Location: NOVA 535 

Nova 535 Dr M.L.K. Jr St N, 

St. Petersburg, FL 33701. 

Theme: Mardi Gras Carnival 

Transportation:  

Safe rides will arrive at the College of Law starting at 6:30 pm shuttling guests to NOVA 535. Busses will be running continuously to and from NOVA 535 until 11:30pm. Please get on an early safe ride as space is limited and not guaranteed. Parking at the venue is available but limited. Contact [email protected] for parking instructions/map. NOTE: Share rides like Uber or Lyft are encouraged. 

Required Items: 

  • Tickets are required for admittance to the venue. 
  • IDs are required for drinking alcoholic beverages. 

**Ticket Purchasing:  

Due to anticipated high demand and limited availability, students MUST follow the terms of ticket purchasing on an honor system basis with a no tolerance policy.  

Any students who do not purchase tickets in accordance with the following terms will NOT be permitted to attend Barrister’s Ball and will placed on a “DO NOT ADMIT” list distributed to all NOVA 535 personnel. Additionally, students who fail to abide by the ticket purchasing guidelines will be referred to the Assistant Dean of Student Affairs and will NOT be refunded for dishonorable ticket purchase.  

By purchasing a ticket you agree that you have read and understand the following terms of ticket purchasing: 

  • February 6th at 8:00am until February 8th at 7:59am: Ticket sales are open for 2023 GRADUATES ONLY 
  • February 8th at 8:00am until February 10th at 7:59am: Ticket sales are open for 2023-2024 GRADUATES ONLY  
  • February 11th at 8:00am until February 13th at 7:59am: Ticket sales are open for 2023-2025 GRADUATES  
  • February 13th at 8:00am until February 17th at 5:00pm: Ticket sales are open to students to purchase PLUS ONE TICKETS **NOTE: Each student may purchase ONLY ONE additional guest ticket, subject to aforementioned honor system and violation repercussions. Additional plus one tickets purchased by an individual student will not be honored or refunded, and the guest and purchasing student will be denied entrance to the event.

Ticket Price: $55.00 

Transfer/Refund Policy: 

Refunds are not available. Please read the following transfer policy. Before tickets are sold out, students may coordinate between themselves to transfer tickets. If you transfer your ticket to another student, you must complete the 2023 Barristers Ball Ticket Transfer Form on Engage. Note: You will not be admitted unless the name on your ticket matches the final guest list, so transfers MUST fill out the Transfer Ticket form.  

Once tickets have sold out, students must abide by the following waitlist policy: If tickets sell out, students will be notified. Then, if a student still wishes to attend the event, they may follow a link to a form that adds their name to the 2023 Barristers Ball Waitlist Form on Engage. As tickets become available, tickets will be transferred to students on the waitlist in chronological, first come, first served order. In the event that you bought a ticket but are unable to attend, please visit the same link in order to transfer your ticket to someone on the waitlist. This policy will only be in place if tickets sell out and students have requested a spot on the waitlist via the link provided. Waitlist transfers will be available until February 17 at 5:00pm.  

Rules: 

By purchasing a ticket you agree that you have read and understand the following rules for the event: 

  • Student’s behavior at the event and on the safe rides is subject to Stetson College of Law Code of Student Professionalism and Conduct. Misconduct could result in disciplinary action. 
  • NO SMOKING (real or vapor), or sparklers shall be permitted inside—smoking and vaping is OK only in the OUTDOOR COURTYARD. If guests chose to smoke, they are responsible for cleaning up/disposing of properly. 
  • No outside food or drink is allowed on the safe rides or at NOVA 535. 
  • No gum chewing allowed on the property 
  • NO GRANULAR ITEMS. Glitter, sand, silly string, confetti, silk petals, feathers, etc, will incur an extra fee of $495, payable by the offending guest 
  • Any student or guest who is visibly intoxicated, acting disorderly, or deemed unfit to remain at the event may be asked to leave or be removed from the event by event staff or security. No refund will be given. 
  • Any student or guest who arrives in a substantially impaired state will not be granted entry to the event. 
  • Jackets, purses, and bags may be inspected before admittance. 
  • No firearms or weapons of any kind are permitted. 
  • The use of any illegal drug is not permitted. Attempting to bring drugs to the venue will result in your entry being denied. 
  • Bring valuables at your own risk. NOVA 535 and Stetson University College of Law are not responsible for any lost or stolen items. 
  • Any additional rules or instructions provided by event staff or security must be followed without question. 
  • By purchasing a ticket and attending the Barrister’s Ball you are consenting to your photograph being taken by the photographer on site. All attending students will have access to these photographs following the event. If you do not consent to your photograph being taken by the photographer, please reach out to [email protected] . 
  • By participating in the photobooth provided by Foto Booth, you give to Foto Booth the right and permission to copyright and use, photographic portraits, or pictures of any photo booth user for any purpose.
