The scholarship is open to rising third year law students. Applicants must demonstrate an interest in public service and have a minimum 3.0 grade-point-average at the time he or she submits the application. The overall academic achievement of each applicant will be a considered in awarding the scholarship. Applicants must also describe a need for the scholarship, though tax records and other financial documents are not required.  

To be considered for the scholarship, applicants must complete the scholarship application form with the following attachments:

  • Official law school transcript,
  • Resume,
  • 500-word personal essay that describes your commitment to and motivation for pursuing a career in public service.  
  • At least one letter of recommendation from an individual familiar with the candidate’s public service background and aspirations, and

May Family Forms Clinic Sign-Up

Bay Area Legal Services’ Volunteer Lawyers Program is seeking law student volunteers to participate in the Family Forms Clinic at the George Edgecomb Courthouse in downtown Tampa (800 E Twiggs St, Tampa, FL 33602). 

The Family Forms Clinic is a free program that provides assistance to people representing themselves in family law cases in Hillsborough County. As a student volunteer, you will help pro se family law litigants complete family law forms. No experience or expertise is needed. All hours are eligible for legal pro bono. 

Throughout May, the clinic will be held on Wednesdays and Fridays from 10am-2pm. Once you select the dates you’d like to attend, you will receive an email confirming your selected dates. Sign-up for 1 or more clinic dates here. You can sign up for as many available dates as you’d like.

Family Law Advice Clinic – Volunteers Needed

Bay Area Legal Services and the Hillsborough County Bar Association are seeking student volunteers for a Family Law Advice clinic on April 17 from 12-4:30pm. Students will assist with set-up, notetaking, and directing people to the correct table. This event will take place on the 6th floor of the George Edgecomb Courthouse in the Judicial Conference Room. SLR Student Article Publication Solicitation

Stetson Law Review is looking for student articles to publish in forthcoming issues of the journal! This is an opportunity to submit your completed student articles for review by the Student Article Publication Committee on SLR, which selects student article submissions for publication. Student articles or manuscripts written for a seminar class, an independent research project, or a law review writing credit are all eligible for submission. Though shorter works are eligible, please keep in mind that submissions less than thirty pages or lacking compliance with relevant citation manuals will typically not be selected for publication. If you are interested, please send your completed student articles to [email protected] with the subject line “Student Article Publication Submission”  for review by the Student Article Publication Committee. The deadline for submission is April 29th at 11:59pm. This is an incredible opportunity for publication, so we highly recommend you submit all your amazing articles to us for consideration!

The Workshop showcases the various skillsets of the board: negotiation, mediation, arbitration, client counseling, and our VIS team. During the Workshop, board members will share their experiences and what they have learned through DR, give demonstrations on their skillsets, and even share a little advice for trying out.
