This summer, the Social Justice Advocacy Concentration will again be presenting two related courses, the Civil Rights and the Law Course (2 credits), and the Civil Rights and the Law Travel Course (3 credits) that immediately follows it. The first course will run June 8-12 (M-F) from 9 am to 3 pm each day on the Gulfport campus; the second course will run June 14-21 (Sun-Sun) and will take students from Memphis to Jackson and the Mississippi Delta to Selma, Montgomery, Birmingham, and Atlanta, where we will meet with Movement veterans, learn from their stories, and walk in their footsteps through some of the crucial moments in Civil Rights Movement history. As part of the collaboration, the Alliance offers paid fellowships to Stetson Law students. We are currently looking for students to serve as fellows in the Spring 2026 semester. Students chosen for this fellowship may work virtually, at Community Foundation of Tampa Bay’s Gulfport campus, or at one of their offices in downtown St. Petersburg or Tampa. Through this paid fellowship, students will work approximately 13-15 hours per week for approximately 10- 12 weeks.
As a Community Fellow, you will gain an in-depth understanding of community philanthropy and have hands-on opportunities to work with nonprofit organizations. You will be introduced to nonprofit board governance, the grantmaking process, donor development, and funding agreements. In addition, you will receive considerable exposure to how grants are evaluated and sustained; and you may also be called upon to analyze data to support nonprofit organizational needs and to assess programmatic outcomes.

January Family Forms Clinic – Legal Pro Bono Opportunity
Bay Area Legal Services’ Volunteer Lawyers Program is seeking law student volunteers to participate in the Family Forms Clinic at the George Edgecomb Courthouse in downtown Tampa (800 E Twiggs St, Tampa, FL 33602).
The Family Forms Clinic is a free program that provides assistance to people representing themselves in family law cases in Hillsborough County. As a student volunteer, you will help pro se family law litigants complete family law forms. No experience or expertise is needed. All hours are eligible for legal pro bono.

Bookstore: Rental Books Due Today, 12/16!
Please do not leave for the holiday break without checking in your rental books. Our current hours for the rest of the week are 9am-4pm M-TUES, 9am-3pm WED-THURS, and 9am-12pm F, Closed Sat/Sun. Our last day open is 12/19. Please do not mail rentals if they will not arrive before 12/19. The mailroom will be closed and no deliveries will be made after 12/19, which will cause your mailed rentals to be delinquent!
You can have another person check in your books for you as long as they have your name and phone number. Do not leave rental books anywhere else on campus. And do NOT leave books outside of the store after hours. You can mail books (shippers’ expense) back to the store as long as they arrive by the close of business on 12/19/25. When the grace period ends on 12/19, your card on file will be charged full book replacement fee plus a late fee. Fees cannot be reversed. We also cannot extend the rental period. You may also pay to convert your rental to a purchase up until 12/16 online or in person.

Portal Now Open: Renew Your ADA Accommodations and/or ESL Modifications for the Spring 2026 Term.
The portal is now open to renew ADA Accommodations and/or ESL Testing Modifications for the Spring 2026 term.
The deadline to submit or renew non-exam ADA Accommodations and/or ESL Testing Modifications for Spring 2026 is January 29th, 2026. Any Spring submissions received during the university closure from end of day on Friday, December 19th to when we reopen on Monday, January 5th will be reviewed and processed upon our return.
All students who have previously received ADA Accommodations and/or ESL Testing Modifications at Stetson College of Law must renew their accommodation requests for every fall and spring semester, summer session and study abroad programs in which you are enrolled.
All semester renewal requests for accommodations or modifications must be requested through the Accommodate Student Portal .
Please follow all the steps found on Stetson Law’s Accessibility Resources web page. The accommodations listed in the BLUE BOX are what you are ELIGIBLE TO RENEW for the current term. If you need additional or different accommodations, please email [email protected]. You will receive an email confirming a successful submission for the Accessibility Resource team to review and process for approval in the current term. If you do not receive a confirmation email, the steps have not been completed, and you need to try again.
If your classes change after you have submitted your request for accommodations renewal, please email [email protected] to notify what classes have changed.

Mandatory for July 2026 bar takers seeking a Bar Study Grant: Bar Prep on a Budget: Financial Strategies for Success (VIRTUAL Sessions – Monday, January 12th or 26th)
Planning for bar study expenses can feel overwhelming—but you’re not alone. Join us for a practical and informative workshop with LeAndra Ross, an Accredited Financial Counselor® from AccessLex Institute, who will guide you through:
- Smart strategies to fund and budget for bar prep costs
- A credit and debt checklist to prepare for the Character & Fitness review
- Tips for managing living expenses during your bar study period
There are two (2) virtual workshops scheduled: attendance at either is required for any student applying for a Bar Study Grant for the July 2026 bar exam.
The workshops will be held:

PAID FELLOWSHIP FOR 2L and 3L LAW STUDENTS
Stetson University College of Law and the Community Foundation of Tampa Bay formed a partnership in 2019— The Alliance for Advocacy and Philanthropy (“The Alliance”) — to benefit the Tampa Bay area. As part of the collaboration, the Alliance offers paid fellowships to Stetson Law students. We are currently looking for students to serve as fellows in the Spring 2026 semester. Students chosen for this fellowship may work virtually, at Community Foundation of Tampa Bay’s Gulfport campus, or at one of their offices in downtown St. Petersburg or Tampa. Through this paid fellowship, students will work approximately 13-15 hours per week for approximately 10- 12 weeks.
As a Community Fellow, you will gain an in-depth understanding of community philanthropy and have hands-on opportunities to work with nonprofit organizations. You will be introduced to nonprofit board governance, the grantmaking process, donor development, and funding agreements. In addition, you will receive considerable exposure to how grants are evaluated and sustained; and you may also be called upon to analyze data to support nonprofit organizational needs and to assess programmatic outcomes.
If you are interested in applying for one of these paid fellowships in the upcoming Spring 2026 semester please submit your resume and a cover letter to Professor Scully and Jesse Coraggio, Vice President of the Community Foundation of Tampa Bay at [email protected] no later than Thursday, January 22nd at 12 noon. Please indicate in your cover letter why you are interested in this position and what skills you currently possess that you think will be an asset to The Alliance.
The finalists for this fellowship will be notified no later than Monday, January 26th of their status and will be invited to virtually interview with the Alliance within that week. Students chosen to be Fellows will begin work on Friday, February 6th.
