Clinics and Externship Applications for Spring 2024
Dear Faculty:
The Office of Clinical and Experiential Education is almost a month into the spring application process with only a week left before the deadline. We are excited to report a record number of applicants for next semester thus far! See the graph below charting this time in the application process for years past compared to this year.
While this is great work, we want to reach out to ask for your help in promoting clinic/externship coursework for the spring semester and encourage students to apply. There are seven more days until the application deadline of October 30th at midnight. Attached is a flyer you can post on your Canvas course page or show as a visual in your class. Please encourage your students to apply and meet the deadline!
As you may know, Stetson is proud to have the most historic clinical courses in the state of Florida, our Public Defender and Prosecution clinics. We also have two incredible on-campus clinics providing direct legal services for Veterans or working hard on environmental and democratic justice issues. Many of our courthouses in the local area are filled with attorneys and judges who have participated in a clinical experience and truly enjoy mentoring our students. Equally, our externships are unique in structure, as our full-time professors oversee an externship course and are connected to the practice area. Some professors meet with their externs on a weekly basis to simply check-in and have a cup of tea which delivers that authentic Stetson experience.
With that said, I hope this email inspires all of us to support our clinics and externship courses and help set a record number of applications for the spring semester!
