Mentoring/Tutoring at Boca Ciega High School
We have several opportunities at Boca Ciega that can really make a difference in the life of our students:
- Mentoring (will resume after winter break ends – January 9):
- Sessions are held Monday through Thursday from 10:15-10:45am or 11:50 – 12:20 (student lunch hours).
- Most mentors come weekly, but some alternate between in-person and virtual (we have a mentoring app)
- Two programs: Lunch Pals and Take Stock in Children (TSIC requires the student to comply with certain criteria (e.g., behavior, attendance, GPA)).
- All Mentors need to:
- Register on the PCS Volunteer page (or update existing PCS Volunteer account): https://asd.pcsb.org/schoolwiresforms/volunteer/
- Attend a PCS mentoring (live virtual) training
- TSIC mentors have 2 more steps because it includes a college scholarship funded by the Pinellas Education Foundation.
- Complete the TSIC Mentor Application (additional info required by the Pinellas Education Foundation, which funds this program)

- Every weekday during school hours anytime between 8:00 am and 2:15 pm.
- Support is provided for all grades around exploring careers and colleges, navigating the college application process, financial aid & scholarships
- Chaperone field trips
- Assist athletics coaches / ticket-taking
- Clubs:
- See a list here (https://www.pcsb.org/cms/lib/FL01903687/Centricity/Domain/105/Club%20organization%20schedule%20822.pdf)
- There are 2 new ones not on the list: Associ-Asian and Dance
- Volunteer at special events (e.g., Prom / Homecoming)
No experience is necessary, we will provide training and resources to help you feel confident. Please call me with any questions.
