Congratulations, Dispute Resolution Board!

We had three teams competing this weekend, from Buffalo, New York, to Williamsburg, Virginia, to Oxford, Mississippi, and all of our advocates did great work!

First up – in Buffalo, New York, four great advocates represented us beautifully in the ABA Representation in Mediation Competition!  Great work, Jennifer Kuramochi, Team Captain Megan Nickel-Martin, Dominique Alford, and Gary Lopez-Perea, and a special thanks to our fantastic mediation coach, Stetson alumna Amy Catledge, Esq!  All four of them were representing Stetson for the first time, in one of our most challenging competitions.

Next – in Williamsburg, Virginia, we had two great teams at the William & Mary Negotiation tournament – Team Captain Kendra Maynard, Michael Carballa, Kristina Lester, and Setyo Laksono.   Michael and Kristina were representing Stetson for the first time, while Kendra and Setyo returned this year as experienced negotiators after a great rookie year in which they both excelled in negotiation.  They were coached by two outstanding Stetson DR alumnae – Alina Evans, Esq. and Sy-Woei Hao, Esq.  Both teams made us proud, and Kendra and Setyo advanced to the semifinals!

Last but certainly not least, we had two wonderful teams at the Magnolia Cup negotiation tournament in Oxford, Mississippi – Co-Captains Andrea Gwin and Kamila Waugh, along with Collin O’Keefe and Gabriela Pombo.  Andrea and Kamila are both experienced competitors who have already excelled in negotiation and mediation, respectively, and Collin and Gabriela were representing Stetson for the first time.  They were coached by Stetson DR alumna Kylie Weaver, Esq. and Professor James Sheehan.  After preliminary rounds, both teams advanced to semifinals, and, after advancing to finals, Andrea and Kamila emerged as champions, making this the third year in a row for Stetson to win the Magnolia Cup!
