Professor Reyes will be giving a 2.5 credit CLE presentation where she will discuss her cutting-edge research on Decentralized Autonomous Organizations (“DAO”) as Limited Liability Companies. The discussion will cover computational entities for regular people and small to medium enterprises using Lexon Digital. There will be a comparative discussion of Wyoming Senate Bill 38, passed July 2021 and amended March 2022. Professor Reyes will discuss her recommendations to the Texas and Florida legislatures regarding the legal treatment of DAOs.

The Stetson Blockchain and Law Society is excited to announce our Keynote Speaker for the semester, Professor Carla Reyes! A former Stetson Professor, Reyes is at the forefront of all things blockchain and law. Professor Reyes is a nationally recognized leader on issues raised by the intersection of business law and technology.

Professor Reyes was appointed the Chair of the Texas Work Group on Blockchain Matters in September of 2021 and plays an important role in considering policy priorities regarding blockchain technology in Texas. Professor Reyes also serves as an Associate Research Director of the Permanent Editorial Board of the Uniform Commercial Code, and a Research Director for the Uniform Law Commission’s Technology Committee.
