The Innocence Initiative’s Partnership with the Sunny Center Foundation – Who Is the Sunny Center?

The Sunny Center Foundation is a non-profit organization that helps people who have suffered the injustice of wrongful conviction, giving them support after they have been exonerated and released from prison. The Sunny Center Foundation was established by Sunny Jacobs and Peter Pringle, both of whom were sentenced to death for crimes they did not commit. Sunny was released in 1992 after spending 17 years incarcerated in Florida, and Peter in Ireland in 1995 after 15 years in prison. Established in 2018, The Sunny Living Center is a dedicated community in Tampa for exonerees to live safely, securely, and affordably. The Sunny Living Center is set on a half-acre with four individual units, each house surrounded by its own garden and picket fence– providing privacy for the residents, yet also giving them a feeling of connection with their fellow residents.

The Fundraiser

Realizing that housing was the biggest unaddressed problem facing the unique population they were working with, Sunny and Peter and their supporters decided they would buy a property to house exonerees. The residents at the Tampa Living Center could use our help to purchase a coin-operated washer and dryer so that they can wash their clothes in a cost-effective manner.

We are asking for donations to raise $2,500. ALL donations will go directly to the purchase of this washer and dryer.
