Dr. Burt Professional Identity and Belonging Discussion

The Office of Diversity Collaboration, and Inclusion, the Social Justice Advocacy Concentration and the Gulfport LGBT Resource Center are excited to host guest speaker, Dr. Stephanie Burt in celebration of LGBTQ+ History Month. Dr. Burt is a Professor of English at Harvard University who critiques literary works and poetry. The New York Times has called her “one if the most influential poetry critics of her generation”. Dr. Burt’s Stetson Law presentation will center professional identity and belonging. This discussion will add to the continued dialogue between the convergence between law and poetry.
Join us on October 12, at 4:30 pm for a meet and greet with LAMBDA Legal Society and Dr. Burt. The presentation will be held from 5:00 pm-6:00 pm in The Great Hall and is open to the public. From 7-9 pm, Dr. Burt will be holding a book signing and presentation at local lesbian owned and operated bookstore, Tombolo.
On October 13 from 7-9 pm, Dr. Burt will be presenting for the Gulfport LGBTQ Resource Center’s SpeakOut Series. This event will be held at the Gulfport Public Library. She will be examining the intersections between LGBTQ+ identity literature.
