JOB ANNOUNCEMENT — THE ALLIANCE FOR ADVOCACY AND PHILANTHROPY – PAID FELLOWSHIP FOR LAW STUDENTS

Stetson University College of Law and the Community Foundation of Tampa Bay formed a partnership in 2019— The Alliance for Advocacy and Philanthropy (“The Alliance”) — to benefit the Tampa Bay area.  As part of the collaboration, the Alliance has an office space on our Gulfport campus and offers paid fellowships to Stetson Law students. The fellowships are for the Fall 2023 and Spring 2024 semesters.  Students chosen for this fellowship may work virtually, at Community Foundation of Tampa Bay’s  Gulfport campus, or at one of their offices in downtown St. Petersburg or Tampa.  Through this fellowship, students will have the opportunity to attend community events and are required to work approximately 13-15 hours per week for  10- 12 weeks.

When you submit your cover letter expressing interest in this fellowship, you must indicate whether you are interested in working in the Fall or Spring semester because student fellows are eligible to work for only one semester.

As a Community Fellow, you will gain an in-depth understanding of community philanthropy and have hands-on opportunities to work with nonprofit organizations.  You will be introduced to nonprofit board governance, the grantmaking process, donor development, and funding agreements.  In addition, you will receive considerable exposure to how grants are evaluated and sustained; and you may also be called upon to analyze data to support nonprofit organizational needs and to assess programmatic outcomes.

If you are interested in applying for one of these paid fellowships either for the Fall 2023 or Spring 2024 semesters please submit your resumes and a cover letter to Professor Scully and Jesse Coraggio, Vice President of the Community Foundation of Tampa Bay at [email protected] no later than Wednesday April 12th at 5 p.m.  Your cover letter should indicate why you are interested in this position and what skills you currently possess that you think will be an asset to The Alliance.

The finalists for this fellowship will be notified no later than Friday, April 14th. Candidates for the fellowship will be interviewed by Professor Scully and Jesse Coraggio on either Monday, April 17th sometime between  1:30 and 4 p.m. or  Wednesday April 19th sometime between 2 and 5 p.m.  The interviews will be virtual and alternative dates for virtual interviews may be arranged if scheduling conflicts occur.

The students that are chosen to become Fellows in the Fall semester will begin work with the Community Foundation of Tampa Bay during the second week of the Fall semester.   Students chosen to become Fellows in the Spring semester will begin work with the Community Foundation of Tampa Bay in the second week of the Spring semester.
