National Tax Team Wins Three Out of Four Awards—Congratulations!

Please join me in congratulating Mia Bartolomei-Negron and Eddie Hong on winning the National Tax Moot Court Competition this weekend. This is Stetson’s 102nd national championship, for those counting,

And winning was not enough for this team. There were four awards to win, and our Stetson team won three out of four—Champions, Best Brief, and co-Best Advocates, Final Round. (Yes, the judges from the U.S. Tax Court could not pick just one best advocate, so both Mia and Eddie won the honors.)  In fact, from day one of the competition, the team was ranked first after the first two preliminary rounds, and they never let go.

Thank you, Professor Appleby, who coached the National Tax team. If you want to see the traveling trophy, it is currently sitting in Professor Appleby’s office. And a very special thank you to the Moot Court Board members who served as ambassadors and bailiffs for this competition.  The Tax Section of The Florida Bar hosts this competition at Stetson, and it takes a village to run the competition. Special appreciation goes to Emily Hall and Gabby Zapun who put in extra hours in the tally room ensuring that everything ran smoothy.

Congratulations, Mia and Eddie!
