Need some non-legal pro bono hours? Keep reading!

Non-legal pro bono opportunity this weekend, July 6–7, by serving as a timer at the St. Pete Masters (SPM) long course swim meet.

SPM was established in 1970 by a Stetson alum—Judge Bob Beach. (And Judge Beach is planning to swim in the meet; he is 94 years old! Judge Beach graduated from Stetson in the late 1950s.) Masters swimming is for the young at heart, ages 18 and older!  At the last swim meet, two world records were broken! Hence the importance of timers.

Timers are needed for both the Saturday session (9:30 a.m. until roughly 3:30 p.m.) and the Sunday session (6:30 a.m. to 11:00 a.m.).  The session will begin with a timers’ meeting during which you will learn what you need to know to be a timer.  And volunteers will have their name entered into a daily drawing for a $25.00 gift certificate to Southern Steer Butcher. Free food, snacks, and beverages await our volunteers.

If you have any questions, please reach out to Professor Bowman, [email protected], as she is the meet director.
