Remote Legal Pro Bono opportunity- 13th Cir. SAO

The State Attorney’s Office is tasked with promoting community safety through the ethical prosecution of criminal offenses.   This role requires our Assistant State Attorneys to have easy access to up-to-date legal research and training.  To support our attorneys, our office maintains a database of these resources.  These resources include topics such as search and seizure, current developments in forensic science, stand your ground defenses, and speedy trial.   SAO13 is seeking law students with an interest in criminal law topics to assist in the development and maintenance of these resources.  This is a self-paced, remote opportunity with a focus on legal research.  Students will not work on specific cases, nor will they have access to protected criminal justice information; a background check is not required.  This program can accept up to 10 law students who can complete up to 30 hours with the program.  Students can select the number of hours that they would like to complete and the time frame for completion.  They will work under the supervision of licensed attorneys:  Renee Muratti, Chief Assistant State Attorney, and Diane Marger Moore, Director of the Conviction Review Unit.

Opportunity hours will begin in May 2023. If you are interested or have questions, please email Attorney Renee Muratti; [email protected].
