STEM Careers and Internships for Florida Students and Professionals

The U.S. Department of State is offering paid summer internships, fellowships, and careers for undergraduate students in the following STEM-related fields:  Information Technology, Computer Science, Cybersecurity, Engineering, Criminology, Public Safety, Global Security, Financial Management, Political Science, etc.

The panel will provide tips for fellowship applications now open to STEM-undergraduate students including the: The Foreign Affairs IT Fellowship and the William D. Clarke Diplomatic Security Fellowship.  Both fellowships provide up to $103,000 for a two-year masters program, two paid summer internships, and a career path as a U.S. Foreign Service Specialist with the Department of State. 

In addition, we are also accepting applications for the following fully-funded summer internships for All Majors:

U.S. Department of State Internship Program Now Open:  

  • The U.S. Department of State’s paid Student Internship Program Summer 2023 pays for a ten week summer internship in Washington, DC or Abroad covering housing, travel, and a stipend! Now accepting applications through November 7 at 11:59 PM.  College juniors, seniors, or graduate students with at least 60 credit hours earned by the time the internship begins and a cumulative 3.2 GPA or higher are encouraged to apply.  

Rangel Summer Enrichment Program Now Open:

  • The Rangel Summer Enrichment Program for 2023 is accepting applications through February 15, 2023.  This six-week paid summer program is designed to provide undergraduate students with a deeper appreciation of current issues in international affairs. This program encourages the application of members of minority groups historically underrepresented in the Foreign Service.  Applicants must be full-time undergraduate students, with at least sophomore status on the date of the application deadline and must have a cumulative grade point average of at least 3.2.  Interested students can join an information session on the Summer Enrichment Program on November 3 at 5 PM ET.
