If you are interested in creating, working, or learning about nonprofit organizations and the intersection of philanthropy and the law, this is a pro bono opportunity you do not want to miss! Please note— 1Ls, 2Ls, and 3Ls are welcome to apply.
The Alliance for Advocacy and Philanthropy (The Alliance) is seeking student pro-bono interns to work virtually or in-person on a variety of projects with nonprofit organizations in the Tampa Bay area. The Alliance is a partnership between the Community Foundation of Tampa Bay and Stetson University College of Law. It is a partnership designed to engage students in the philanthropic community and to strengthen the effectiveness of nonprofit efforts to address the needs of communities in the Tampa Bay area.
Students who volunteer for these pro bono opportunities are required to commit to working at least three hours per week for a minimum of 10 weeks starting February 19, 2024. The preference is for longer multiweek engagements, but short-term one-time opportunities may also be available. Many of the assignments will be virtual.

As a student volunteer, you will conduct nonlegal research and writing assignments and you may have an opportunity to conduct legal research. In addition, you may have opportunities to:
- Learn about the nonprofit grantmaking process
- Attend community meetings and virtual networking opportunities with nonprofit executives
- Collaborate with a wide variety of business executives, lawyers, and philanthropists
- Analyze socio-economic data, and
- Assist in evaluating programmatic outcomes
