Employee Vaccination Milestone
Stetson University offers its appreciation to our remarkable faculty and staff for their tremendous efforts in meeting our Sept. 30 employee vaccination requirement. In the end, nearly 99.9% of the university’s more than 800 full-time employees met the requirement. Thank you for your extraordinary effort in putting the health and safety of the Stetson community first and for providing our students with an unparalleled Stetson experience.

Part-time employees, including adjunct faculty members, as well as volunteers, are required to be fully vaccinated by the start of the Spring 2022 semester. Stetson is committed to ensuring a safe and healthy environment for all of our community.

Tier 3 and Face Coverings
The DeLand campus moved to Tier 3 on Monday, Oct. 11. Tier 3 provides for greater personal freedom with less restrictive guidelines. However, face coverings continue to be:

  • Required in:
    • All classrooms
    • All meetings
    • All shared office space, even if 6 feet apart
    • All indoor events, common areas and shared offices
    • Outdoor events if so indicated
  • Not required:
    • Inside your own residential room or apartment with no guests present
    • Inside your individual, non-shared office with no guests present
    • While eating or drinking
    • Outside when distancing is possible

As stated in Stetson’s Face Covering policy, face coverings should be multi-layered and cover the nose and mouth. Neck gaiters, face masks with exhalation valves and face shields (unless used in conjunction with an acceptable cloth face covering) are not sufficient as a facial covering. Reusable masks should be washed at the end of every day.

Booster Facts
needles of COVID-19 vaccinations are ready on a table. On Sept. 24, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) endorsed the CDC Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices’ recommendation for a COVID-19 Vaccine Booster shot of the Pfizer-BioNTech vaccine in certain populations. There is currently no recommendation to mix vaccine regimens. Boosters for Moderna and Johnson & Johnson are still under review.

The CDC specifically recommended booster shots for individuals in high-risk occupational and institutional settings, including front-line essential workers, health care workers, first responders and education staff (teachers, support staff and daycare workers).

Stetson University is currently collecting booster vaccination information from all community members voluntarily. You can report your booster by using the online form. For more information regarding COVID-19 vaccination boosters, please see Safer Stetson’s COVID-19 Vaccination and FAQ webpages.

Flu shots are currently available at Stetson Health Service and they are covered by most health insurances.
