Clemens Albert Brune, Jr

Clem joined the Navy in August 1944, serving on the USS Hancock in the Pacific for the duration of the War (WWII). He attended Stetson University in Deland, Florida before rejoining the Navy serving On US ships Princeton, Bausell, Blue, And Lexington. He was then selected to attend Nuclear Surface Ship Training in Vallejo, California. Further training took place in Idaho and Pittsburgh, before assignment to Newport News, Virginia as a part of the pre-commissioning crew Of the USS Enterprise, CVN-65, where he was designated a “Plank” owner. Upon commissioning, the ship was stationed in Norfolk, Virginia. While aboard, he participated in Sea Orbit, or the “Around-The-World Cruise” of three months, with the USS Bainbridge and USS Long Beach, all nuclear surface ships. Additional duty was aboard the USS Beatty before being transferred to Pensacola, Florida for his Twilight Duty, where he retired in July, 1969. He then worked for twenty years with the Naval Air Rework Facility at Pensacola Naval Air Station before retiring in 1989.
