THE F. MALCOLM CUNNINGHAM, SR. BAR ASSOCIATIONBAR PREPARATION SCHOLARSHIP
Dear Student:
The F. Malcolm Cunningham, Sr. Bar Association (the “Association”) is seeking applicants for its bar preparation scholarships. The Association provides scholarships to offset bar examination preparation expenses for economically-disadvantaged, black, third-year law students, who demonstrate a commitment to excellence. The awards will be presented at the 23rd Annual William M. Holland Scholarship Celebration that will be held on February 17, 2024, in Wellington, Florida.
The criteria for scholarship eligibility are listed below. If you qualify, we invite you to apply.
ELIGIBILITY: Applicants must be third-year black law students who are scheduled to take the Florida Bar Examination in July 2024.
CRITERIA FOR SELECTION: Academic Performance, Honors and Awards, Community/School Involvement and Leadership, Legal Experience, and Financial Need.
NUMBER OF AWARDS: The Association will award at least three $2,000 scholarships to eligible students.
APPLICATION: All applicants must complete the attached application and provide all supporting documentation, including a current resume and most recent unofficial law school transcript.
INTERVIEWS: An interview with the scholarship committee will be required. Interviews will be held during the weeks of January 8, 2024 and January 15, 2024.
DEADLINE AND PROCEDURE: Applications must be received by email in a single pdf document by Friday, December 22, 2023 at 11:59 p.m., to the following email address: [email protected].
Use the subject “Scholarship Application Attached” in the email. If you do not comply with this procedure, your application will not be reviewed.
Scholarship recipients will be notified of their selection no later than January 26, 2024. Scholarships will be awarded upon verification of the July 2024 Florida bar examination registration. Scholarship recipients will be asked to provide a headshot and a brief bio.
