The Alliance for Advocacy and Philanthropy (The Alliance) is seeking student pro-bono interns to work virtually on a variety of projects with nonprofit organizations in the Tampa Bay area. The Alliance is a partnership between the Community Foundation of Tampa Bay and Stetson University College of Law. It is a partnership designed to engage students in the philanthropic community and to strengthen the effectiveness of nonprofit efforts to address the needs of communities in the Tampa Bay area.

Students who volunteer for these pro bono opportunities are required to commit to working at least three hours per week for a minimum of 10 weeks starting September 7, 2022. The preference is for longer multiweek engagements, but short-term one-time opportunities may also be available. Many of the assignments will be virtual.

As a student volunteer, you will conduct nonlegal research and writing assignments and you may have an opportunity to conduct legal research. In addition, you may have opportunities to:

  • Learn about the nonprofit grantmaking process
  • Attend community meetings and virtual networking opportunities with nonprofit executives
  • Collaborate with a wide variety of business executives, lawyers, and philanthropists
  • Analyze socio-economic data, and
  • Assist in evaluating programmatic outcomes

Georgia Intellectual Property Alliance: Startups IP Roundtable

Please join the Georgia Intellectual Property Alliance (GIPA) for a discussion on “Strategies in an Inflation-Challenged Market,” a free virtual event happening on Wednesday, August 24, 2022, from 12:00-1:00 PM EST.

Intellectual Property is an essential element to successful ventures at all levels of business. GIPA has assembled a distinguished panel with stellar credentials who have managed to navigate through challenges to achieve success time after time. They will ask for their insights on navigating a business through the current challenging economic times and on how IP plays an important role. 

Topics will include:

  • Budgeting for IP activities during a recession;
  • How to prioritize IP filings in light of economic uncertainty;
  • Patent and trademark filing strategies;
  • Lessons learned from previous economic downturns; and

The Department of Justice Tax Division is holding a series of virtual presentations for students who are interested in the Honors Program and/or the Summer Law Internship Program.

The presentation will go over tips for applications, discussions about the tax division, and working with the federal government in general.

Tax courses or experience are not required. The Tax Division represents the US in criminal and civil litigation around the country.
