Position: Diversity Initiatives Research Assistant

Stetson Law’s Office of Institutional Inclusive Excellence seeks a Stetson Law J.D. student to serve as a Diversity Initiatives Research Assistant (DIRA). This position will help with the Office’s institutional and legislative/legal diversity, equity, and inclusion research, and the Office’s diversity pipeline initiatives in close collaboration with the Office of Admissions.  

Applicants must have strong interests in diversity, equity, and inclusion research and initiatives. An interest in higher education administration and policy is also preferred, but not required. 

This position requires a maximum of 20 hours per week and the hourly rate is $12.00 per hour. The preferred start date is Monday, June 10 through the end of Fall 2024. Students may continue in Spring and Summer 2025 if they are available.  

Most of the work will be completed virtually and will include a weekly virtual meeting using Microsoft Teams or Zoom.

Specific Duties 

  • Support the overall diversity initiative and research efforts of Stetson University’s Office of Institutional Inclusive Excellence 
  • Contribute to diversity- and equity-related institutional research efforts on behalf of the Office of Institutional Inclusive Excellence as needed, including state/national legislative and other legal developments 
  • Research diversity recruiting and retention trends within higher education, and assist in identifying needed areas of support for recruiting and retaining diverse students from underrepresented and marginalized backgrounds 
  • Assist in collaborating with other departments and student organizations that wish to amplify their diversity and inclusion efforts 
  • Assist with occasional the Office of Institutional Inclusive Excellence programming efforts for students and employees 
  • Assist in updating and maintaining the applicable webpages and marketing materials 
  • In collaboration with Admissions, assist with diversity pipeline programming efforts when needed, along with the associated research and assessment needs
