At ImageWorks when we make products I realize we are not limited to one resource. What I mean by that is that there is different types of material that we print on. For example there is banner type of paper which is thick and can withstand wind, acrylic which is used for signs and many more. We have many types of paper for different installments. For example we have a certain type of paper we can use to put letters and images onto glass like windows or portraits. We have paper we can use to make postcards or pamphlets and more. The great thing is that one type of paper can be a multi use item. For example the acrylic can be used all by itself or be applied on to an item like a sign or a wall. With these options people can get what they want on anything they want it on. We have types of paper for installations on cars and we can also screenprint a tee shirt but no more than 10. The best part about having these different options is that if you bring something in and want a picture or text on it, you can come here with your item and we will do an install for you so that it can look exactly as you want. If someone wanted a picture they found online onto a helmet, we could take that image and apply it for them and make sure it looks good. Having options is always a big thing for companies so that their customers are not locked into one central item.

I have been working outside on the pillars.  It is so hot out!  Needless to say, I have covered almost all of the pillars with words except two, which I will be finishing.  I have attached images of the pillars.  I really like how when you walk down the halls no matter which way you are coming from, the words are visible.  Once I am done with all the words I am going to go back and outline them in white so it stands out a bit more.  Yesterday was the first day back for the teachers and school starts this Monday for the little ones.   I have never painted brick before, and what I have learned thus far is how much it soaks the paint.  I also have to work with a rough surface that is hardly smooth or flat.  When my day was over yesterday I headed back to the main office to drop off my supplies in my shopping cart.  Sweaty and tired and not ready to head out to my corporate job; I noticed these two siblings having so much fun with my mural.  The little boy touched the mural and would point out what the images were.  “Book, basketball…” This brought me so much joy to see my work as an interactive piece.  They kept jumping around the mural and picking up on the shapes.  I asked the mother if I could take the picture of them interacting and just absolutely adore this shot.

The past two weeks at carnival have been completely crazy. I have had more to do than ever before. First, I had to create a whole new type of report for one of the head developers at Carnival. This was a quality assurance document that stated all the possible scenarios that should be tested to check the functionality of a new campaign. Since we were trying to test three different products with different browsers and scenarios, the list got really huge and took me around three days to finish the document and send it to the head developer.

After that, me and a colleague made the QA (quality assurance) for two of our on going campaigns: courtesy hold emails, and email remarketing for itinerary views. These two had to be done in a rush because my supervisor was going on vacation so we had to finish it before the left. This experience taught me a big lesson,  team work and communication is key in any project. No matter how simple of complicated the project can be, nothing works without having these two. Thanks to good communication and team work, we were able to finish the report in half a day. This in my opinion was outstanding considering the length of the report.

After this, I had to keep in pace with the other on going projects that I have under my management; destination remarketing weekly report, cross device stitching and mobile remarketing for search and itinerary. However, I was able to do all of them without any delays.

And last, but no least, I had to complete one of the most frustrating projects I have had in this internship: The Personalization Program Update Presentation. This project is not exactly hard, however, its the importance of it is what makes it really stressful. This update is going to be presented to the VP of marketing of Carnival Cruises. I am representing my whole team and our work in this presentation. It has to be perfect. I have been working on this non-stop until now. The presentation will be around the end of this week and it will mark the end of my internship at Carnival Cruise Line.

Overall the lesson of these past weeks is that soft skills are as important (or more) as technical skills. It’s a lesson that I will never forget.

I finished the mural in the main office.  I am quite happy with the way it turned out.  The response from the kids is what makes it really worth it.  It is quite exciting to know as an artist I was able to positively contribute to a school and change the area just by adding colors to a white surface.  The mural is filled with symbols for the kids, shapes and subjects.  I tried my best to include as much as I could.  I spent a lot of time in the main office and I created great relationships with the staff.  When a parent would come in for a question, I’d sometime be able to answer it for them.   For today, I have started working on the pillars outside, painting inspiring words on each one.  There are 13 pillars and we have decided to put the words on both sides of the pillars so no matter which way you are coming from you will be able to see it.  The weather seems questionable today, looks like it might rain but I will do as much as I can.  School starts the 15th for the little ones.  I wish I could be a fly on the wall to see their reactions.   I will have pictures uploaded of the pillars when I get a little farther in the project.  Also, I will take a picture today and share of the whole mural in the main office.

I am a little over half-way through my internship now and I am still enjoying every aspect of working with ITProTV. This past week we have had a guest instructor in to teach about Adobe Premiere Pro CC who is an expert in this program. Along with our guest we were finishing a couple of important shows on the Cisco CCENT exam and Microsoft 10.

Time has gone by quickly interning here, and I think it is because of how much fun we all have together. The Premiere Pro expert we had come in to teach a beginners course on the program was a very kind, and hilarious professor from The University of Georgia. Myself, and the other two editors/switchers were drawing straws to see who would get to work with him. In the end we decided on changing jobs throughout the week so we all had the opportunity to learn from him and work with him. Since editing is important to me, this was a treat to have been in the presence of this natural born teacher on the subject. If I have forgotten to mention previously, I have been given the opportunity to edit videos by myself for the company and I am very proud that they have entrusted me with the task when they need it. While recording the Premiere Pro course, I learned many new shortcuts to make the editing process go much smoother than usual.

The other shows that occupied my time this week were less of an interest to me but the people teaching them are fun to listen to always. One of the hosts in particular asked me if I could stay with them forever because I do such a good job with them and that made me quite happy. If I did not have college to go back to in the fall I would love to stay at ITProTV as long as I could. As far as the technical aspects of my job with them nothing has differed; I adjust cameras, lighting, sound, and direct the show I am switching for. The work has become second nature to me now which is a satisfying feeling to be so comfortable in my work environment. By the time Friday rolled around we were finishing up the shows and during breaks we hunted for pokémon or ate donuts; it was the perfect end to the week with my wonderful co-workers.

When describing a company, most people would probably use the word efficient. The dictionary describes efficient as achieving maximum productivity with minimum wasted effort or expense or working in a well-organized and competent way. Most businesses try to emulate that type of lifestyle and make sure that they are giving customers what they want. They want to get a job done in a timely matter but also work fast because as they are working on one project they are 10 more that can come in. In business you cannot put all of your time into one thing and forget about others. College is the same way with homework and projects. Companies need their employees to be efficient and create a good face to them so that when a customer comes back they know they are getting what they want and the time that they want it. In a business there should not be a lot of downtime and there should be productivity in the office so that when others see the work coming from the place they want to come back and also it brings in revenue for a company. Connections can also be very efficient. finding partners and people who exel at what you might not be so good at makes a company well rounded and can relieve a person of a job they might not be good at. For example here at ImageWorks Ms. Sherri hired a business intern because she needed help with finance and other types of things she does not particularly excel in. This makes the company more efficient.

Organization in companies is a crucial part in any company. As I am working here in ImageWorks I have been doing a lot of filing to keep the company organized with their physical inventory. With this a company can find customers easily and go back to see what they ordered last time and see how much they charge. This is also resourceful especially if the computers are down and you need to see a previous product that a customer ordered. When I first started to organize, I thought it was a worthless project or a fill in project that did not mean anything. Now as I work I have seen many things come out of this process. For example, I have been able to see how long customers have been coming back to do business with ImageWorks. I have learned that they can keep a strong connection with them and see that they are reliable and can get their products to them in a timely matter. Also other than then time the product is made with some professional and personal touch. Filing also can show how successful a company might be.For example if you have lots of papers with returning customers, that can show that a company is doing well. People come back to ImageWorks because they know that they are getting good quality products and they are getting the service they need for their businesses. When I first started i though this would be a tedious job but now I am actually taking something away from a business perspective.
