Week 10: GREAT NEWS!!!

As I wrap up this amazing internship journey, I’ve been reflecting on how much I’ve grown—and how much I love this experience. I’ve discovered a real passion for storytelling and content creation, and I know this is just the beginning for me.

One of the biggest areas of personal growth has been confidence. At every event I attend, I feel less shy and more empowered to show up fully. When I first started, this was one of my biggest challenges. I’m extremely introverted, and creating content often requires you to tap into your extroverted side—to chase moments, ask for interviews, record videos, and put your face out there without hesitation.

If I compare one of my very first takeovers—like the S’mores Fun event—I was too nervous to be on camera. I asked my friends to appear in the videos and do the interviews for me. The idea of my face showing up on the official Stetson Instagram made me panic a little. But fast forward to my final takeover (BRASA at USF), and I was excited to show my face and voice. I felt ready to take the lead.

Now, I not only show up—I ask people to join in, to be interviewed, to record fun trend videos. That confidence is so crucial for creating engaging content, and I’m proud of how far I’ve come.

I’m incredibly grateful for this internship and everything it’s taught me. And the best part? I’m not stopping here.

I’m thrilled to share that I’ve been selected by Morgan to be the next Social Media Lead for Agency 83! I’m beyond happy and honored to take on this role, and it will be my main focus in the upcoming year. As I transition out of my position as President of BRASA—where I recently received the Top Hatter Leadership Award for President of the Year—I feel confident and ready to embrace this new chapter.

Excited for what’s next… and so thankful for what’s been. 💚

Week 9: My Two Favorite Things Came Together — BRASA + Marketing

During Week 9 of my internship, I had the opportunity to combine two of my biggest passions: BRASA and marketing. I was invited to do an Instagram takeover for the Stetson University account, covering a special trip I organized for BRASA to attend BRASA Connect at the University of South Florida (USF) in Tampa.

As the president of BRASA at Stetson, it was a pleasure to highlight moments from our trip and share them with the broader Stetson community. On top of that, Cory asked me to capture some photos to be featured in the Belonging Newsletter, which made the experience even more meaningful!

I planned the Instagram takeover to be dynamic, concise, and full of personality. My goal was to feature as many of our members’ faces as possible—not just images of speakers or crowded auditoriums. I wanted to showcase the people behind the club: our board and members who make BRASA what it is.

Here’s how I structured the takeover:

  • I kicked things off with an intro video, inviting viewers to spend the day with us and follow along with the takeover.
  • I then shared a recap of the day’s top speakers in a single story, offering a short description of each presentation.
  • Next, I captured our lunch moment together as a team—one of the highlights of the day.
  • I followed it up with a short interview with one of our members, asking how they felt about the experience.
  • Finally, I shared a very special moment when we were called on stage to receive recognition for our chapter.

This internship has been helping me grow so much, especially when it comes to content creation and storytelling. I’m learning that it’s not about how many posts you create, but the quality of each piece and how it emotionally connects with the audience. Including the faces and voices of our members makes the content more human, more relatable—and as a result, more engaging. People are more likely to pause and watch when they feel a real connection.

I’m proud of how much I’ve improved in creating content that people don’t just scroll past. With every project, I’m learning how to tell better stories, be more intentional with my messaging, and ultimately make content that resonates. This week was a great example of that growth—and I’m excited for what’s next.

Week 8 – One of My Favorite Events at Stetson So Far!! 🌙✨

This week was incredible! For the first time since I started at Stetson, I attended Ramadan Mubarak, an event organized by the Muslim Student Association (MSA), MENAA, and the Office of Religious & Spiritual Life—and honestly, it was one of the most meaningful events I’ve ever been to here.

I was invited to cover the event on Stetson’s Instagram stories and take photographs. It was such a beautiful opportunity to learn more about different cultures and religious traditions. As the president of BRASA, I know how special it is when students outside our community come to our events to learn about Brazil—so I really wanted to be that person for them too.

While creating the stories, I made sure to include traditional songs to make the experience more immersive and respectful of the occasion. I also interviewed and featured Naya, the president of MENAA, to give a more personal touch and highlight her amazing leadership. This is something I’ve been wanting to do more of in my internship: shine a spotlight on student leaders and the incredible work they do, not just focus on the big-name orgs like Hatter Productions. (And yes—this is something I bring up with Morgan all the time ).

Being able to attend this event, document it, and share its impact through social media was honestly an honor. I’m so grateful for experiences like this one and hope to keep growing and doing even better every time! 💛

Week 7 – TEDxStetsonU

For Week 7 of my internship, I had the chance to help out with something super exciting: TEDxStetsonU! Jodi reached out to Morgan asking for some extra hands for the event, and I got the opportunity to be part of it.

My main job was to operate one of the three cameras we were using to capture high-quality footage that will eventually go up on the official TEDx YouTube channel! (Sadly, the videos haven’t been posted yet, so I can’t add it to my portfolio just yet 😭). At the same time, I was also covering the event on Stetson’s Instagram stories. Sharing behind-the-scenes details, speaker highlights, and the most memorable moments of the day.

Even though the camera task sounds pretty simple—literally just making sure to turn it on between speakers lol—I was super nervous. It was my first time using the brand new cameras the marketing department got, and I just wanted to make sure everything worked perfectly.

This event made me reflect on how awesome this internship experience has been. I probably wouldn’t have gone to TEDx otherwise—either because I’d be busy with something else or just wouldn’t have prioritized it. But because of this internship, I’ve had the chance to get out on campus, explore new events and initiatives, and build new skills along the way. Love that for me

Week 6 – NYC, Here We Go!

This week brought an exciting opportunity to merge two areas I’ve been deeply involved in lately: content creation and student leadership in the Marketing Club. I was honored to be selected by Dr. Scott Jones to participate in a Marketing Club trip to New York City! During the trip, we visited multiple marketing agencies and had incredible networking opportunities with industry professionals.

Before the trip, Morgan asked me to use this experience to create content for Stetson University’s Instagram, an amazing chance to blend my creative side with real-world storytelling. My original plan was to do a live Instagram takeover, capturing fun and meaningful moments as they happened, and to shoot professional photos for a final curated post on the Stetson feed.

However, things didn’t go exactly as planned /:

As I started recording content, just as I do for Young Sound Seekers, Dr. Jones asked that nothing be posted live without his approval. He preferred to wait until the trip was over to review everything before going public.

From a content creator’s perspective, this wasn’t ideal. Engagement on social media thrives on raw, real-time content. Timing is everything, and live posting often creates the strongest connection with the audience. Still, I respected the decision and adjusted my approach.

After the trip, I compiled the best photos and created a final post that was later published on Stetson’s Instagram. I’m proud of the result and will be adding it to my portfolio!

One key takeaway from this experience? In the world of marketing and content creation, you sometimes have to adjust to the client’s expectations—even when they don’t align with your creative instincts. This kind of flexibility is a must in agency work, and I’m glad I got to practice it firsthand.

Week 5 – Phoenix Generation Conference

One of the most intense event coverages I’ve ever done—but I loved every second of it! 😊

For Week 5 of my internship, almost our entire team was in charge of covering the Phoenix Generation Conference, which was hosted on campus for the first time! I actually attended this same conference at a different location last year, so having it happen at Stetson this time was an incredible experience.

The day started early—by 9 AM, we were already on-site, gathering interviews and capturing content for Stetson’s Instagram. Rodrigo and I teamed up to ensure we not only had valuable content but also top-tier quality. I focused on recording everything in a social media-friendly format, while he handled photography.

One of my main goals for this coverage was to highlight the perspectives of both speakers and students—because, in my opinion, that’s the most valuable type of content for social media. I interviewed several speakers, including the founder of the Bonner Program at Stetson (WOW!), as well as Stetson and UCF students, conference organizers, and more.

But here was the real challenge: transferring, editing, and posting all of this content in real-time as the event unfolded. It was tough! I learned a lot about timing, how to condense an extensive event into engaging social media content, and how to balance quality with speed.

After six hours of intense coverage, I walked away with so much new knowledge and a deep appreciation for live event marketing. Grateful for the experience!

Week 4 – Lysistrata

For my fourth week of the internship, I was challenged to create long-form content for our YouTube channel and website. Morgan tasked me with covering the incredible play Lysistrata, organized by Stetson’s talented theatre students, alongside Jodi.

To bring the production to life through our content, I decided to interview the student actors, asking them about the play, their experiences at Stetson, and insights into the theatre program. It was such a fun and rewarding experience! The cast was amazing, and the performance itself was even more impressive.

After the interviews, I edited a short Reels video for Instagram, featuring highlights from the interviews to promote the play and encourage students to attend.

This experience was a great opportunity to develop my storytelling and video production skills while celebrating the incredible talent within our theatre department. I loved every moment of it!

Week 3 – When Two Jobs Come Together

During my third week of my internship, I had the incredible opportunity to combine two of my on-campus roles in a meaningful way. As an RA, one of our responsibilities is to plan events for our residents throughout the semester. However, I noticed that these events weren’t being promoted on any official campus social media channels.

With my internship in the Marketing Department, I saw the perfect opportunity to bridge this gap! Two fellow RAs and I were organizing the S’mores Fun event at the Stetson Oaks Apartments, and after discussing the idea with Morgan, she gave me the chance to share more about it on our Instagram stories.

I created a series of fun and engaging stories that not only promoted the event but also gave students a behind-the-scenes look at what RAs do on campus. This experience was a great way to enhance my storytelling skills while also highlighting the amazing work we do as RAs.

It was exciting to see how marketing and student life can come together to create more awareness and engagement on campus!

First Offical Meeting – Week 2

Lots of Brainstorming and Creative Energy

Do you know that feeling when you’re doing something you truly love? When a five-hour meeting doesn’t feel like a chore but rather pure excitement and fulfillment? That’s exactly how I felt! I was in the right place, doing something that ignites my passion and gives me that undeniable sense of, “This is what I want to do with my life!”

Last Sunday, January 26th, marked the first official meeting of our creative agency. We kicked things off by discussing our goals and expectations for the semester. Morgan and Josh explained how everything will work and outlined our responsibilities. Then came the most exciting part—brainstorming name ideas for our marketing agency. Two hours flew by in what felt like minutes! We haven’t settled on a name yet, but we’re deep in the creative process, figuring it out.

We also began exploring the type of content we want to create, discussing different approaches and perspectives. That was the moment when my brain started overflowing with ideas. I was so excited, and it seemed like Morgan and Josh really liked my suggestions too!

After that, our group leads gave a short presentation with tips and expectations for our respective teams—Photography/Videography and Social Media.

By the end of our five-hour session, all I could feel was overwhelming gratitude. I’ve never been so sure of something before—this is what I love!

I can’t wait to see what’s coming next!

My Internship Journey Begins – MLK Unity March (Week 1)

What better way to start than by diving straight into work?

That’s exactly how my exciting internship experience began! Our first assignment was to join the Martin Luther King Jr. Parade and record video content for Stetson’s social media. Our team leader, Rodrigo, gave us a brief introduction to his creative process for crafting videos and let us experiment with some amazing equipment. This hands-on learning opportunity was incredible! The professional cameras and lenses were far more advanced than what I’m used to—sorry, duPont-Ball Library, but this gear was on another level.

All the interns had the chance to use the camera and record what we found interesting. I specifically sought out individuals with signs or T-shirts featuring Martin Luther King Jr.’s quotes, believing it would add a human touch to the content. Sharing people’s voices and messages is a great way to make content more relatable and impactful.

In addition to capturing the parade, we interviewed the event coordinator and the DeLand mayor. We asked them to share their thoughts on the significance of MLK Day and why it’s so important. Including perspectives like theirs not only adds credibility but also highlights Stetson’s connection to local community leaders.

Finally, Rodrigo invited us to visit the marketing department office, where he walked us through the post-production process. We learned about saving footage, editing, audio production, and the finer details of putting everything together.

This first experience was incredibly rewarding, and I’m grateful for the chance to engage in hands-on learning and real-world practice. That said, after discussing with my internship coordinator, Morgan, I realized that my true interest lies more in social media strategy than in filming and editing. She assured me that I’d have opportunities to explore that side of marketing as well, which makes me even more excited for what’s to come!

Through my journey at Stetson, I’ve gained clarity about what I want to do—and what I don’t. While I enjoy photography and videography, I don’t see myself pursuing them as a career. I’m eager to explore different areas of marketing that align more closely with my passions, and I hope this internship will give me those opportunities soon! (:
